I’ve written a minimum of 75k words about him since December, and I’ve also assigned him enough headcanons to cause a grown man to topple over. I’ve run this race with the OG character in heart and mind— beside me the whole way— but that doesn’t mean I’m not significantly further away from the start than before.

Specifically, this comes up with his Detective Prince persona (hah). There’s a suave, calculatedness about him that I sometimes have difficulty holding in my head. He’s smart; he’s almost certainly smarter than me, and that’s kinda hard.

All this being said, I think my Akechi (and everyone’s unique Akechi) is valid. I think I have done a good job writing him and keeping and building on the psychological complexity established in P5R.

It’s just that, sometimes, I wonder if I do him Justice (hah). He is my favorite character in all of media after all; he deserves nothing but my best.
