I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet, but in sotr Suzanne says there is a matching pin to the mockingjay of a hummingbird, but it fell down a grate.

I feel like its to reference the hummingbirds in district 13 but I haven't seen anyone else talk about it and I feel like I'm going crazy

Watching The Bad Guys after being a Leverage fan for years was really funny. Oh heres almost the exact same crew, slightly different personalities, and they do the good thing?

When sonic 3 came out I was not a fan of sonic, but I was aware of the fandom and that Keanu Reeves was in the movie as shadow. The most I had interacted with it was clips of the fan dubs.

I really like die hard and it is my favorite christmas movie after Rudolph the red nosed reindeer.

So when Sonic 3 movie poster came out of the different christmas poster recreations and die hard was on there, I showed my friends bc it was very funny to me (image for reference)

My one friend took this as I was a fan of sonic, not as I was a fan of die hard. So for christmas she got me a sonic squishmallow.

Again, I hadn't seen any of the shows, and didn't know very many plot points of the games, and had not seen the movies.

I had no choice but to be nice and thank her but man, weird that she got me a gift I didn't have much interest in and now I keep in the back window of my car bc its the same color and he rolls back and forth on curves.

But still weird that it happened right?

That was like, 2 years ago.

Flash foreword to now. My mom was gifted sparkly blue heart shaped sunglasses as a joke for a silly picture a while back.

I took those glasses and put them in my car bc they matched color, and I think its hilarious to see a tiny blue car blasting heavy metal or industrial, and the driver has sparkly blue heart sunglasses on to match the car.

And my friends don't have licenses, so I have driven them around in my car, and have worn the glasses in front of them when driving with heavy glare. I explained that I thought they were funny and they matched my car, not thinking much of it.

BUT THEN

ON THEIR ANIVERSARY!!

My friends (different friends then last story but known for same ish amount of time/group and had several classes together as we met through school) saw sparkly butterfly shaped sunglasses. And they thought of me. On their anniversary they bought me the stupid sunglasses. And gifted them to me out of the blue. So now I have to put those sunglasses in the other car I drive for longer drives (blue car is old electric and can't go far) so they know I appreciate them.

But what if they keep doing this?

How do I do a bit without getting gifts themed around what I thought everyone would understand is a bit?

I have several hobbies and interests that I talk about, its not like I don't have anything to be interested in for gifts, and I have made christmas wishlists they have access to.

I love everything Suzanne Collins does and I am sure she is very busy, but one day I would love if she pulled a twilight and wrote at least the first hunger games book from peetas perspective. I want the jarring dissonance of katniss being like

"one kiss equals broth, I have to play to the love act, he doesn't love me why did he think of this stupid act, haymitch I want to kill you"

meanwhile peeta should be like

"man, my crush is nursing me back to health, thats so nice, and we have soup! yayy i wont die right away, she looks pretty"

I know it would be way more in depth than that, but I do want to know what was going on in his head during those games and when he realized katniss didn't love him in the first book

the gag where Columbo pulls up to high-class celebrities’ multi million dollar mansions in his ancient beat-up falling-apart wreck of a car never ceases to be hilarious to me. he arrives with the intent of annoying the murderer into a confession as his car actively falls apart on their perfectly manicured lawn. half of the time he brings along his slobbering dog. sometimes they find him dangling from a tree or elbows deep in their garden. truly chaos goblin energy to the max

I like to think hes magic and the car only works for him. Like in that one episode with the wine guy he tells the valet that his car has like over 100 thousand miles on it and still runs like new, only for the valet to get in and the car to stall on him and the camera cut away.

Shout out iron lung for being so first-time horror watcher friendly. 90% of the people I know irl that saw iron lung in theaters (myself included) had never seen a horror movie before. And this may be unintentional on marks part, but it had ways for you to experience the universe before watching the movie.

The soundtrack coming out before the movie was in theaters was really nice, because if you were scared of jumpscares, the music can help you prepare for that. (i am just generally insane about soundtracks, but I did listen to the iron lung ost to prepare for watching the movie)

If you wanted an idea of what would happen in the movie? here's marks several playthroughs of the games and what he thought of it even before he was going to make a movie.

That part where he "sees" the eel for the first time and "talks" to it of "we'll stay in oposite sides and not mess with each other"(idk I only saw it once don't expect a direct quote) felt very much like markiplier playing a video game of how he tends to interact with the monsters and threats. and of all the things throughout the movie that part even almost made me laugh. After that part I wasn't really scared anymore bc I knew that I was mainly in for a performance that was going to be very good, and that while yes it was going to be scary, it was mark, and that it wouldn't make me shit my pants immediatly, because of how almost funny that part was to me(maybe i'm crazy but that part really did make me not scared of the rest of the movie but instead thrilled about what would happen)

The whole thing was just released in a way that was very beginner friendly in the horror movie genre, and I haven't really seen a movie get released after the soundtrack is out. It gives you a good sense of what to expect in the movie while still being distinctly different than the game. And that was so nice to be able to prepare for scary movie number 1.

idk i have a lot of thoughts about it and it was really nice of mark to do those things for a new audience of horror watchers whether it was intentional or not because it did help ease nerves about watching horror movies for many of the people I know.

I love how most of these are because of @writing-prompt-s making a prompt and one response getting very popular and well known

Cannot wait for the release of iron lung on youtube, specifically because when I saw it in theaters my friends made us wait in line for popcorn and we missed a bit of the beginning of the movie. I don't know how much we actually missed (I tried to tell them to skip the popcorn but noooo) but the first scene of the movie I saw was Simon already in the iron lung being sent down the first time. And I think that was such a fun way to watch the movie, because he was already trapped, before anyone knew that he would die. Seeing a guy trapped in a welded shut submarine without knowing who he was, what his backstory was, or why he was there was super interesting. I didn't know what the "convict" thing was about, I only guessed that they were sending prisoners down there because they couldn't afford anyone else to die. (the note might explain that though). But I had no frame of reference of "the butcher" or why Eva was being so mean to Simon based soley off of that. So I am very excited to see how watching the beginning changes my knowledge/perception of Simon and the rest of the universe. The version of the movie I watched (being late) was essentially just the gameplay without the lore at the beginning. Very excited for May 31st!

TLDR my friends made me late to see iron lung when in theaters so missed the beginning, essentially only got parts of movie that were gameplay and on

it took until nolans name was said for us to go "ohh thats why 'mark' looked weird its his dad"

Learned about the south africa thing bc of lethal weapon 2 at like 12 so not terrible and I did eventually learn about it in school years later

HOWEVER! I only learned about the Irish civil war LAST YEAR because of none other than Beauty and the Beast (1987) TV show that George RR Martin helped write. I learned history because I decided to watch this show while recovering from wisdom teeth surgery

I knew that Ireland was split and the two sides hated each other and the whole "irish reunifiaction of 2024" thing but they had a whole episode about it and I had to ask my mom wtf they were talking about because my whole scholastic career no one decided to mention that tiny detail of a whole CIVIL WAR
