so this is the good ending for Martyn, right?

does this mean he's in heaven?

or does he get to live again?

because my theory/au idea is this:

martyn gets to live again.

he "ascends" after veinbound. he wakes up, somehow digs up his grave and...isn't sure where to go next. cleo finds him and so does pearl. they inform the others.

martyn isn't sure where to go from here.

he has nobody left; no family, no friends (at least, he believes that, since he was just "allied" with apo, cleo and pearl), no partner, no father to fall back on, nothing.

maybe he could go searching for sausage.

maybe he could go somewhere new.

maybe he could try to bring ren back.

maybe he escaped and became frogue the rogue, from bannerfall.

whatever you like, but at least...

at least he gets to live again.

i'm so ill over them. "it's an easy choice for me" and ren's standing on the sacrifice pad. "yeah, me too" and martyn confidently walks to the ascend pad.

ren sacrifices and martyn walks free. they did not communicate the entire time here.

Ren: By the way, dude, I would— I was thinking about this, uhh, situation, right?

Martyn: Mm.

Ren: You and I have done many things together. We have... swam in a lake together.

Martyn: We have.

Ren: We've paddled on a board together.

Martyn: We have.

Ren: We've theater'd together.

Martyn: Theater'd? What's theater'd together?

Ren: Y'know. Theater-kid'd together.

Martyn: Oh!

Ren: Yeah!

Martyn: Oh as in like improv? I thought you might have been to the cinema or like a show, I was like, "Did I fall asleep in the show?"

[Ren laughs.]

Martyn: That's a— that's a me thing to do.

Ren: We've played pool together. We've eaten M&Ms together. [pause] But never have we done this together.

Martyn: We haven't. [Laughs]

Ren: This is literally the— this is literally the first— this is historic moment.

Martyn: Oh I guess we've not really done like, just one-on-one—

Ren: Yeah!

Martyn: —like, streams slash content before. Yeah I guess I didn't think about that actually.
