Sousuke barked folding his arms crossed his jacketed chest. He stood on the side of the pool with stop watch in hand as he looked down upon the teen in the water. A whining sound was made from the watery depths below. “Sousuke sensei..!!” The goggles were pulled off of violet eyes as the youngest Shigino rubbed the red marks they made.
“Don’t- don’t you make that pout. You’re not focused.” A stern look stayed on his face a no amount of cute faced Shigino witchcraft was going to make him budge. But damnit it was hard.
Hayato had been the one to approach sousuke. He had begged him to train him. Why not ask someone who was one of the top swimmers in their day to train you? Only he had been such a grump. He had turned him down three times until sousuke couldn’t stand seeing Hayato leave with his head hanging down.
Now he was stuck with the mini Kisumi, except not as bubbly and slightly cynical.
Every other night of the week the two met for training until Hayato barely could pull himself out of the pool. “Alright, finally you got your times down to your average. You can take a break.” He allowed Hayato to climb out of the pool as they two sat down.
Hayato was huffing and puffing as he grabbed his bag out taking a long drink of water. He pulled his cap off tucking it into his jammers before shaking his short hair. The curls framed his face, certainly neater kept than his elder brother.
Sousuke groaned taking a seat beside the other. “… Sensei.. You sounds as old as you look.” A hint of a smirk was in the corner of his lips which was way more of a reminder of his brother than sousuke currently needed. “Knock it off.” He grunted before shoving the kid’s shoulders.
Laughing gently he dug into his bag to bring out two boxes. “Compliments of my brother, he paid me to say that.” He nudged one of the containers towards sousuke. At first he had been surprised being given these daily. But it seemed that Kisumi cooked all of Hayato’s meal, that spoiled brat.
The bento boxes slowly became more lavished. Today’s was no exception. Tonkatsu, all sliced lined up. Beautifully carved veggies into flowers, rice with sesame seeds with cute little cups of sauce and soy. “Are you sure this isn’t for you?” He asked seeing the cute faces and hearts decorating the box.
“Nope, all yours. By the way… You’re not so scary when you smile like that.” Hayato grinned already moving away knowing he was about to get another shove.
When Kisumi came later Hayato was still in the pool. He smiled waving towards Sousuke looking way too excited to simply be doing a chore. If Hayato’s parents ever bothered to show up he had a few choice words for them, Kisumi basically was like a single dad. “Hey,” he smiled bringing sunshine into the pool. Sousuke couldn’t look directly at him, he was just radiant. “How’d he doing?” He questioned.
“Alright, I think I need to give him a break. He’s pushing hard but I think he’s exhausted from school and pressure from swimming. Some down time might do him some good. I’ll give him Friday off.” He grinned slightly. The kid deserved it, he was simply making up a reason.
“You’re sweet on him. He talks about you all time, quoting you when he doesn’t want to listen to me.” He rolled his eyes. “He has your voice down and it’s slightly disturbing.” Kisumi admitted laughing a bit. Hayato just finished a lap and came up, “hey onii-chan, sensei am I done..?” He asked hopefully. Sousuke pretended to think about it. “Yeah go dry yourself off.”
Hayato hurried to the locker room making sure to take his time. Kisumi looked like he was fidgeting. He simply couldn’t stand still as if he wanted to ask something. “What?” Sousuke finally asked curious now. “Did you like the bento?” Of course, he was fishing for compliments. “I mean it was pretty good, I’m not sure it’s as good as mine.” Sousuke grinned as he turned to face Kisumi more squarely.
Kisumi made a face, “aw I tried really hard this time.” He admitted. “Kiss, I’m joking it was awesome.” A compliment, given freely? Who was he? Kisumi beamed brightly again as Hayato peaked out from the locker room, come on sensei..
“So, since the kid has the night off Friday. How about I return the favor and cook for you?”
Kisumi’s smile softened as his cheeks grew rosy in shade. “Yeah, I’d like a night off too.” He agreed to.. Dare he say, a date? The two had been skirting around one another for awhile. Hayato couldn’t help but whispering ‘yes’ from behind the door. “Alright, come on out squirt!” Sousuke yelled as he rubbed the back of his neck embarrassed slightly. “See you Friday.”
Kisumi grinned putting his arm around Hayato walking him out the car. “I can’t wait.”
