The best part of the percy jackson books is that from percy's perspective hes just an easygoing funny cool guy who seems pretty harmless but the moment you see him from someone elses pov hes terrifying. Just a crazy good fighter, a force of nature killing machine, literally gets mistaken for a god in disguise. But he doesnt see that side of himself at all because hes too busy arguing with authority figures and respecting women. I love him
If you live in the USA and you're pleading for donations to pay your rent, bills, or get food then dial 211! Please dial 211 before the last minute!
It's a toll free service with people who will help you find programs in your community to pay those bills, find food, and find housing! They will give you numbers to call so you can get help.
It is not 100% foolproof. Their job is to direct you to a program they believe will help your current issue, but it's still a step up from praying random strangers online will give you enough cash before a deadline! The added benefit of these community programs, which get funded by the local government most of the time, is if there are more people using them then they can get more money to help more people.
You're not taking resources from other people if you use your community services. Your taxes pay for them. Use them.
Dial 211 first to see if they can help, and if for some reason they can't, then make your donation posts!
https://www.211.org/
Hi I work for my state's 211 service. It really breaks my heart how many people only know to call us at the last minute. 211's can provide a whole wealth of resources to use before things ever get to a cut off utility, eviction, or homelessness!
I can't speak for all 211's but most should also have a website detailing all the agencies in their database. if you don't like phone calls, this can be something to reference instead.
If you don't have health insurance but you need to see a doctor, reference 211! We list clinics that provide free or discounted general care, vision, and dental services to low income households and people without insurance! Many hospitals also have financial aid policies that can severely reduce your bill if you had an expensive procedure!
If you're stuck in a dead end job or need educational resources reference 211! There are a lot of programs focused on providing basic adult education as well as trade skills or other high demand fields! State governments are generally more interested in funneling people into work than providing benefits, but you can still use this to your advantage especially if you have some form of disability but are still able to work. That includes if you're neurodiverse or have mental health issues! Most of these programs are extremely underutilized.
If you believe you qualify for public benefits but the bureaucracy of the process is in your way, reference 211! There are agencies specifically geared towards helping people obtain the benefits they qualify for- for free!
If you need help with your taxes-
If you need help finding a pro bono lawyer-
If you need help finding affordable housing/section 8 housing-
If you need help finding food pantries-
If you need help paying for your prescriptions-
If you need help obtaining disability aids or assistive technology-
If you need help finding transportation options-
If you need help following a natural or personal disaster (like a home fire)-
If you need help repairing a home you or your family owns or it needs modifications to be accessible-
If you need Queer resources-
Reference your 211!!!!!
I had no idea what 211 was before working for it but I wish I had. I've learned so much about what resources are actually available to the community even in a ho hum area of the country like my state. I've saved my partner literally thousands of dollars just from the medical resources I've gathered.
Not enough young people know about or utilize these services but they are there for you!
P. S.
This isn't an intended use of 211, but I like to reference the agency listings when I look for jobs. Many of the agencies listed are non-profits which, while they certainly are not perfect, generally have lower barriers of entry to decent paying jobs with benefits. The work environments tend to be much kinder and at least pretend to be forward thinking. You're more likely to find jobs without as many people applying as well, especially if they're only advertising their positions through their own website.
If anyone tries to tell you that Shakespeare is stuffy or boring or highbrow, just remember that the word ânothingâ was used in Elizabethan era slang as a euphemism for âvaginaâ.Â
Shakespeare has a play called âMuch Ado About Nothingâ, which you could basically read in modern slang as âFreaking Out Over Pussyâ. And thatâs pretty much exactly what happens in the play.Â
Itâs also a pun with a third meaning. Thereâs the sex sense of much ado about ânothingâ, thereâs the obvious sense that people today see, and then thereâs the fact that in Shakespeareâs day, ânothingâ was pronounced pretty much the same as ânotingâ, which was a term used for gossip. So, âFlamewar Over Rumorsâ works as a title interpretation, too.
The reason we call Shakespeare a genius is that he can make a pussy joke in the same exact words he uses to make biting social commentary about letting unverified gossip take over the discourse.
Hey, hey, hey, youâre forgetting the fourth thing, that noting (again, pronounced note-ing) was a pun on music NOTES and thatâs why thereâs a shitload of singing and dancing and puns about singing and dancing because Much Ado About Noting is basically Freaking Out Over Pussy The Musical: Gossip Making a Mountain out of a Molehill.
Today I learned

âMany people seem to think it foolish, even superstitious, to believe that the world could still change for the better. And it is true that in winter it is sometimes so bitingly cold that one is tempted to say, âWhat do I care if there is a summer; its warmth is no help to me now.â Yes, evil often seems to surpass good. But then, in spite of us, and without our permission, there comes at last an end to the bitter frosts. One morning the wind turns, and there is a thaw. And so I must still have hope.â

WandaVision - Ep.1 Costume Analysis
Dinner Party dress
Wandaâs diner party dress is a swing or circle style dress, featuring Diorâs ânew lookâ silhouette which was all the rage in the 1950s. The bodice is fitted with a cinched waist, the neckline is V-shaped with a wide collar going over the shoulders and decorated with a bow on the center front. The skirt is gathered and puffs out at the waist into a full skirt. Tea-length was the most common length for dresses. Her dress is a beautiful light mint blue, pastel colors were very popular for dresses in the 1950s. The dress appears to be made of a fabric like silk shantung or taffeta, popular choices for party/cocktail dresses. Kitten heels were popular because they were easier to walk in while maintaining the style and class of stilettos. Heels could be made of leather, suede, or velvet. Wandaâs heels appear to be suede in a matching mint color, it was common to match your shoes to your dress, the toe is pointed which was popular specifically in the early â50s and have a bow on the center front. Wanda wears a jewelry set with a flower design, a popular brand that made similar pieces in the â50s is Coro Jewelry. Short hair was preferred and could be styled in many ways, Wandaâs hair has a deep side part and is rolled into a short, curled style. Her makeup reflects 1950âs trends; defined, arched eyebrows, full lashes, and a pinky coral lipstick.
House Dress -Â
House dresses were the âuniformâ of the 1950s housewife, they were more comfortable to move around in and had a coordinated apron. Wandaâs dress features the ânew lookâ silhouette, a full gathered skirt, and a fitted bodice. She wears a shirtwaist with a pointed collar, shorts sleeves, and contrasting trim, minimal trim was preferred for home wear. The dressâs skirt is full and stops past the knee. Her apron appears to be a floral pattern, which was a popular pattern, with contrasting trim. Wandaâs apron features a small, sheer apron on top of her apron. Aprons in the 1950s came in many styles, layered, ruffles, pockets, among other styles. Her dress is either a solid or small gingham print (hard to tell) cotton fabric, cotton was the fabric of choice for house dresses. Solids were acceptable but uncommon, so a gingham print would be more accurate. Belts matching the dress were optional, Wandaâs features a square buckle, all matching the dress. To create the hourglass silhouette, Wanda is equipped with a bullet bra. The bullet bra was a bra with conical cups, this created the illusion of a fuller bust which was needed to balance the fullness of the skirt. Wanda wears a classic pearl earring and necklace set. Â At home, a low-block heel or flats were worn. Wanda is wearing a pair of point-toe heels with a bow on the center front. Her hair and makeup are the same for day and night. Unfortunately, I couldnât find a picture of this outfit in color. The apron is yellow, but humor me, if I were to colorize it Iâd pick
Wedding Dress -Â
Wanda wears a dress based on Audrey Hepburnâs wedding dress in the 1957 film Funny Face. The dress features a bateau neckline, fitted bodice, drop waist, and full ballerina length skirt. She accessorizes with a pair of short, white gloves and pearl jewelry. She wears a medium length tulle veil with a bow on the top, possibly a hair comb or headband, Audrey also wears a bow in Funny Face. Her shoes are a pair of pointed-toe kitten heels and have a center front decoration, most likely a rosette or bow.    Â
