Hello Welcome

As I said I'm a writer. I write across all genres and forms but at the moment I’m working on poems and a short story hoping to submit to publication. Anyway that’s a bit about me. Tell me a bit about yourself.

The Dead Poet Society in its most simple form is a movie that shows what can happen when one is not allowed to follow their dreams. I think many even now can relate to this message. As a writer myself I would be lost if I couldn’t tell the stories that fill my head. it would destroy me, my head would over flow with endless possibilities never to be put on the page. The Dead Poet Society is a classic movie about problems we still have issues with. People still cannot follow their dreams because of family, the world we live in, our friends. All this can change how we reach for our dream if we can reach it at all because of their situation. The Dead Poet Society is a beautiful story that I feel shows artists in their true light. Now I must admit the movie does romanticise art and their markers, which is lovely to see. However, Its the ideal version of what it means to be an artist and some artists will never experience that idealness in full and the sad reality is that some art will not and should not be romanticised. But we can romanticise ourselves and the process in making our art even if its not easy. I believe we deserve that right to romanticise our art in any form. Because as stated in the movie “We don’t read and write poetry because it’s cute. We read and write poetry because we are members of the human race. And the human race is filled with passion. And medicine, law, business, engineering, these are noble pursuits and necessary to sustain life. But poetry, beauty, romance, love, these are what we stay alive for.” Now this is said with poetry as the main point, but it still works with other mediums. My point is this movie shows us truth and if you are struggling to find people who support you. I promise you.
