I challenge anyone to find a more superfluous contribution to a track than Sean Paul's nonsensical commentary on the top of what is a brilliant song. I'll stick to the original #CheapThrills thanks very much.

#NowPlaying White Privilege II (feat. Jamila Woods) by Macklemore & Ryan Lewis This is an absolute must listen for everyone who hates on Macklemore for doing hip hop and being white. More importantly, it's a must listen for everyone who is white and doesn't understand what that means.

World weary rap courtesy of Vince Staples and Future. Vulnerable folk from Joanna Newsom and Sufjan Stevens. Thundercat and Kamasi Washington’s astral musings. The welcomed comebacks of Dr. Dre and Sleater-Kinney. All of that and more makes up our Top 50 albums of the year.
I can’t believe this was a whole year ago. This song will forever make me think of coming home for at Christmas time, as I had just flown in from Berlin after the longest I’d ever been out of the country and went to this event which was so very very British, what with it being the BBC Music Awards, and was so happy just to be back in lovely, wonderful, christmassy London. Home.

I'm bad at paying attention to lyrics so until Ellie pointed it out I hadn't realised that this was about a friendship rather than a romance. She wrote it for her best friend and I think the sentiment of the song is so strong because of that. Friendship doesn't get enough attention in pop music even though in my opinion it is one of the deepest and most powerful forms of love.
#NowPlaying Spotlight on 2016 - UK. I was lucky enough to get to go to Spotify's private Spotlight on 2016 event which Jack was headlining. Had a great time. Few too many cocktails but still managed to appreciate the music. Looking down this list now a bunch of these artists are people I've been listening to a lot this year. I guess others have too, hence why they're on this list! In particular HONNE, Will Joseph Cook and Mabel. Super excited to see what happens for music in 2016.
#EllieGoulding dueting with #MNEK. Not bad eh. She also sang #SantaBaby with #OllyAlexander and #YourSong with 50% of #MumfordandSons plus #Kwabs and #JohnNewman were epic. #StreetsOfLondon #charitygig (at Roundhouse)
"Weight In Gold" by #Gallant. Tune.
So awesome seeing @jackgarratt performing at the #Spotify Spotlight event tonight. Absolutely amazing, mesmerising performer whose energy just radiates into the crowd. And also got to see #SammHennshaw who was also amazing. #livemusic #gig #musicindustry #peopletowatchin2016 (at The Vinyl Factory Space)

So stunning it hurts!
This video is genius and a massive statement of just how far Bieber’s rebranding as a credible musician has come.
Artists such as Bieber, who have traditionally relied heavily on mainly teenage, mainly female demographics, tend to only put out videos which feature themselves looking cute/hot/attainable/everything you’ve ever dreamed of. This is a part of fanservice, where a video is aimed more at keeping existing fans sweet and excited on social media rather than branching out to a wider crowd.
This video right here is the exact opposite of fanservice. This is Bieber putting out a song and relying on the merit of the music alone to get plays and listens. This video focuses on the musicality of the record, rather than the Bieber brand. The dancers dance to the music, not to or around or for him. The lyrics, which could so easily have resulted in a video with a Mary Sue model and an apologetic Bieber doing awkward “I’m sorry” hands, have been allowed to stand alone and the ambiguity of the video and its connection to the lyrics leaves the whole song much more open to interpretation.
It’s a bold and confident statement from Bieber. He’s here for his music to be taken seriously now. He doesn’t need to rely on his image as a teen heartthrob anymore. He doesn’t even need to appear in his video. He just needs us to listen and start dealing with the fact that us non- Beliebers have got a whole lot of soul searching to do. Because I never thought the day would come when I would say that Justin Bieber makes good music... but it has and he does.

I've never eaten cake by the ocean. I'm now questioning whether I've even lived...
A voice like that champagne that comes with tiny shards of razor sharp gold in it. Delicious and raw all at once. #Sia
