When we celebrate the Lord’s Supper, we remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. We’re saved, not because we’ve been a good person, we are accepted by God as His children only through the sacrifice of Jesus. As we repent and put our faith in Him, accepting His atonement for our sins, we have forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and access to our heavenly Father.
The practice of communion, which the Lord left for the church, also enables every Christian to serve notice to Satan, the accuser, that there is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus, for we have been redeemed not with perishable things, such as silver or gold, but with the precious blood of the Lamb. ( 1 Peter 1:18-19)
