I have been wanting to play this game ever since I saw the anime. While I wonât 100% recommend the anime to everyone, especially if you played it before it was adapted, I will say that it was a good draw in. So once it was 90% off on Steam I bought the shit and played it! If youâve been paying attention to my Amnesia tags then you already know most of my thoughts, but if youâre interested in what I have to say about the game as a whole, well then hello children, itâs murder time!
Amnesia: Memories is the first of three games by Idea Factory about a girl whose mind is collided with a spirit named Orion. Orion immediately feels bad, especially when he learns that you have lost both your memories and personality (why didnât they mention this in the anime?), and decides to help you regain your memories before the end of August.
Like many Otome games (dating sims designed for a female audience), the let you come up with a name and also let you decide which world you want to go in.
The Heart World is where you are dating Shin, your childhood friend who also used to be a little brother figure to you until the two of you started dating three months prior to the game. He figures out about your amnesia right off the bat and plans to help you while trying to clear his name for an attempt of murder. This was my personal favorite route, since I kinda like the tough on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside guys (tsundere guys are bae). The bad end is hella bull but itâs easy to avoid it if you just trust Shin. It took me about two times to get the good ending, the normal ending being pretty nice and itâs a total downer.
The Spade World is where you date Ikki, one of your co-workers. Ikki kind of a ladies man, and itâs super sketchy. This was probably the third hardest for me to get through and I didnât really like it as much as I thought that I would. But, it was still enjoyable nonetheless. This has two bad endings; one that you can get in the middle of the route, and one if youâre not careful about showing your amnesia. The normal end is pretty heart breaking for me personally, but isnât as bad as some others. I wasnât too thrilled about the good ending, but when I finally got it, I was pretty happy. Unfortunately I umâŚI had to cheat because I kept getting the normal ending. Oopsie.
The Clover World is where you date Kent, your former professor (or tutor since heâs still a student himself). Kent is very aloof and looks at everything from a scientific and mathematical stand-point. While personally Kent is not someone that I would go for off the bat, it was cute watching him try to relationship and try to be all lovey. With your relationship, he has a lot of inner problems to handle because heâs so used to everything being scientific. The normal end is possibly the more realistic of all of the endings in this arc, and the good ending is super cute. However I wasnât sure how to feel about the bad ending. It seemedâŚout of character for him to me. This was the easiest route to get through for me and was my second favorite. I didnât take any screenshots noooo
The Diamond World is where you are dating Toma, another childhood friend along with Shin. I hate this route. I was half-tempted to just skip through it but I decided against it and actually read it. I have a strong dislike for yanderes, with only a few making my favorite characters list. This is a route that I would advise going into with caution, as I was disturbed by it myself, especially the bad ending.
The Joker World is where you are good friends with Ukyo. Now, I say good friends because you two donât really date in this route. Ukyo is a character that has been in each route, trying to direct you in the right path (or wrong path depending on which Ukyo it is). Each route has a bad end with Ukyo except maybe Ikkiâs (canât remember tbh). Ukyo is possibly the most heartbreaking character in this series, making me shed a bunch of tears at the normal ending (which you can chose to take in the last choice of the route). It has so many bad ends that I honestly just did them all first to get them out of the way. This one, along with Tomaâs, is one that I would also proceed with caution becauseâŚthere is justâŚso much deathâŚso much deathâŚIt also gives a shout out to some routes, like Tomaâs and Ikkiâs, which was pretty cool.
I highly recommend this game to any Otome lover. Itâs $29.99 on steam and you can also get it for the PSVista. Unsure if you can get it in English for PS so be sure to look into that if youâre planning on buy it for that.
