you are absolutely right, however, when you’re presented with a cast of characters with no confirmed appearance, and you jump to either racist stereotypes, or an all/mostly-white cast, it reflects poorly on you and the content you create.

It’s a gift to be able to imagine these characters how we want.  We get to headcanon everything about their physical appearances (and beyond!) and that’s not something that’s handed to you often with media.  You see certain actors portraying their characters and you’re stuck with envisioning them with specific features, which, you can’t control that, but here we can.  The fact that we don’t take more advantage of this and appreciate it blows my mind.

Let’s celebrate fanfiction after the holidays!

It is easy to make people look at art; all you need is a reblog. But when it comes to make people want to read fanfiction, it can get just a little more tricky.

To give writers more recognition, and to celebrate their stories, we’ve decided to organize the Fic Rec Days.

On January 9th and January 10th, you’re invited to rec your favourite fics, from the all time faves to the WIPs you’re currently enjoying.

How? In any way you want!

Create a post saying why people should read the fic!

Draw some fanart!

Create graphics/aesthetics!

Make a fic rec list!

Make a mix!

And so on.

Anything, really; there’s no way of rec’ing worth less than another.

This way, you will:

Promote writers’ fic, and maybe get them new readers.

Make their day, they will be super happy!

Maybe encourage them to write more.

I was really hoping that I wouldn’t have to do this.

So it looks like my financial aid for the semester isn’t going to be enough to cover everything.  I’ll need another $1,723…and I don’t know how to cover it.  I can’t apply for private loans because I need a cosigner with good credit.  None of my family has it, and we’ve tried asking family friends before.  They’re all unwilling to cosign.  We can’t pay for it out of pocket because we are literally living paycheck to paycheck.  I could probably cover about $100 out of my account, but that’s it.  There’s no way we can come up with enough money in time.

So I’m basically asking you all to please please please donate to my PayPal before January 16.  If I don’t pay this off, I’m gonna have to withdraw from the university.  They won’t let me schedule until I have it paid.

And there’s others, of course, but these are the ones I’ve really liked or that I’ve remembered. I’m really picky about fics, to be honest. Plus, there’s others that have been deleted (SERIOUSLY STERLING WHERE ARE YOUR ½ FICS), or some that are more platonic than shippy. They’re not too hard to find! 

So just remember, when you’re looking at that hit count and wondering why you don’t have that same number of kudos (divided by the number of chapters, because each one of those also counts as a hit), it might be because some people out there love your fic.  They read it when they’re feeling down.  They open it in the waiting room at the doctors office, or in the lonesome dark of night.  They turn to it in celebration when they did something right.  They open it over and over so they can send the link to their friends, or just to revisit the characters that they love.  They checked it ten times in one day, hoping that you had updated.

Like do you realize how many unique and interesting AUs exist (yes even in the ubiquitous ‘coffee shop AU’ genre) simply because the writer has this deep interest in some particular skill

The guide for people who dont know yet. basically it will be an Anthology. RVB14 and RVB15 have both been confirmed.

What does anthology mean?

A collection of short stories (confirmed to be from 1 to 3 episodes long) written by various writers.

Who will these short stories be about?

Anyone at any point in time in the Red vs Blue timeline! People who have been confirmed to be in discussion are 479er and season 1 Tucker.

But who will the writers be?

Burnie and Miles will both be writing stories , but they will be asking writers they admire from across the internet to write other stories which they will be overseeing. Most likely Eddie Rivas will also write one. No one else has been anounced as “for sure” yet.

Will it be machinimated?

Sometimes! They said they wanted to explore many animation styles, including 2D ones!
