I was writing so much about a silicon valley AU idea I had a couple days ago only to discover that somebody had the exact same idea years ago. so now I no longer feel like it's cool nor original but you can still read my original ramblings about it:
what if jared didn't work at hooli but was instead made by hooli? what if he was a robot made as a passion project by hooli employees before gavin decided he wanted to pivot to something else and he became just something to offload work onto but because of his original programming he ended up gaining sentience?
and richard shows up to hooli to hear gavin's offer and they leave jared in the waiting room with him with the sole purpose of talking up gavin to richard. but richard is way more interested in hearing more about how jared works and he keeps asking him questions and jared disobeys orders a bit to answer them.
and the same thing happens as it did in the show where after meeting richard he decides he wants to leave hooli for him but it's also a lot crazier for him to do that because he's a machine disobeying direct orders
and richard thinks he's remarkable technology that gavin was wasting and he keeps him and lets him help with his company and learn how to interact with others and gives him little upgrades as a thanks for all his help
