Sleep never comes easy to Shepard anymore, so he ignores the stiffness creeping up his neck and lets her steal these few peaceful hours. Before the Normandy, the mission, hell, the entire galaxy starts demanding every last piece of her all over again.

I had to draw this immediately

When you meet up with Garrus and are watching Palaven burn, he points out that his hometown is in the bright orange spot. I get the vibe the writer’s room didn’t think much further than “damn that’s deep huh.” Maybe they did and I’m being a dick. Anyway. The idea that you can’t go home again. Garrus has been watching his home be destroyed. And then meets up with Shepard and they both are glad the other is still alive. And then the handshake. Maybe in that moment, home transferred from a place to a person. And then when you get to that final goodbye on the battlefield, once again, you can’t go home again.

(In the throes of an art crisis I was throwing away every drawing I tried to make. This one is not perfect but it was saved bc it’s EXTREMELY CUTE UGHH).
