Opie got a whole wardrobe change (bit, bridle, saddle (Pony Boy's), and pad) and was like a whole 180 from last week. Overall seemed happier and more willing. Wasn't fucking around with the bit like usual. He HAS started to get some arrow anxiety though and will throw his head up (like the first picture) and or turn into the shot. So we worked on that a bit, which required ME to work on something I've been horrible at and time my shots a little later. Made him more relaxed and got me dialed in.
Onion......did her best for not having as much muscle as she did 2 years ago to back up that freight train. I've lost a lot of core as well so my balance isn't super great and I thought we were going to nosedive a few times. Got her carrying herself without me and maintaining speed around the corners. She wasn't happy about only going fast three times around but Mama, you got the arthritis too 🥺
Walked her out and gave her so many pats. I think I'll alternate weeks between her and the boys.
Need a different saddle for her. Something about that particular one forces my pelvis to twist more than usual, even if I'm actively trying to push it straight. Could be the stirrups. Maybe I'll do what I did to my other Abetta and trade the fenders and stirrups for some leathers and irons.
7 weeks til faire and I'm getting itchy
