If you’re European, in a couple of weeks you will be denied any and all access to fandom contents on Tumblr and everywhere else on the internet. Here’s why.
On June, 20th the JURI of European Parliament approved of the articles 11 and 13 of the new Copyright Law. These articles are also known as the “Link Tax” and the “Censorship Machines” articles.
Articles 13 in particular forces every internet platform to filter all the contents we upload online, ending once and for all the fandom culture. Which means you won’t be able to upload any type of fandom works like fan arts, fan fictions, gif sets from your favourite films and series, edits, because it’s all copyrighted material. And you won’t also be able to share, enjoy or download other’s contents, because the use of links will be completely restricted.
But not everything’s lost yet. There’s another round of voting scheduled for the early days of July.
What you can do now to save our internet, is to share these informations with all of your family members and friends, and to ask to your MEP (the members of the European Parliament from your country) to vote NO at the next round, to vote against articles 11 and 13.
Here you can find more news and all the details to contact your MEP:
https://saveyourinternet.eu
Also, sign and share this petition:

We have just a couple of weeks to stop this complete madness, don’t let them dictating the way we enjoy our internet.
#SaveYourInternet now!
It’s funny how y'all will reblog any and all US things but when whole Europe might lose access to internet then everything is quiet.
Are you fucking serious? Is this really happening? I’m European and I didn’t know a single thing about this

Also ao3 has spoken out about this

You can sign the petition even if you are non-European. I recommend you do, as many of us fan content creators are indeed in Europe. We would also lose access to non-European fan creations, meaning less readers, less fans and less customers for your home-made merch, commissions and such for you.
I’m reblogging this to FUZZY as this is extremely important. If I lose access to Tumblr, you will lose access to FUZZY. I would most likely even lose access to Webtoons, as it does have fan comics! Not to mention Patreon is not safe from this either.
PLEASE EVERYONE IN EUROPE SIGN THIS PETITION
WE CAN’T LET THIS HAPPEN !!!
As a europpean fanartist, I’m directly affected by this shit. Give it some of your time if you can.
Please help!
Well fuck, I thought we already won this thing, uuugh
Gen Z is great, I’m glad they’ve already started calling out a lot of shitty things that millennials have done.
But some of them are edging into “ugh it’s so cringey that adults still like having fun and engage in fandom content” and I resent that I apparently have to give up all my interests and joys because I’m already considered decrepit at age 26.
Fight the power, kids, but Jesus H. Christ do not fall for the idea that life ends at 25 and everyone older than that is past their prime.
And to clarify, I don’t say this because some teenagers made me feel bad or something, I’m saying this because the idea that you have to live your life to the fullest and do everything you want by the time you’re in your mid-twenties has left me with debilitating depression, anxiety, and inferiority issues. It’s the same with most of my friends.
Life is long, y’all. You have so many more years left to live. You don’t have to cram a century of possibility into a quarter of that time. Adults need and deserve silliness, fun, and play just as much as teenagers and kids do.
As an older Gen Z this kind of pisses me off because you’re completely missing the point. We don’t think you’re old we don’t think decrepit so don’t act like we’re making fun of you because of your age, we do it to call out your shortcomings.
We don’t care what fandoms you’re in or what topics you enjoy or how many plants you own. Our problem is that you got to blindly enjoy those things and we didn’t.
Our problem with you and the reason we say these things about you is because the Millennial generation is quite literally one of the largest generations ever born and you let Gen X and Boomers walk all over you for shits and giggles.
You were the generation that got to see both end of the technology spectrum, you were the generation who lived in a pre and post 9/11 world, you were the ones who got to see how good the world was once and watched it get shittier promising to yourselves that you would be the ones fixing it.
We’ve only ever lived in the shitty side of this.
You were supposed to be the big idea generation with all these plans for change. Millennials had the opportunity to implement things however they wanted. But instead you bury your head in the sand and you focus only on the pop culture not the actual culture. And now here we are Gen Z not even able to legally buy a drink having to do all the things that you said you would.
So go ahead blindly enjoy things because we don’t get to. We don’t get to enjoy K-pop that we love without acknowledging the negative social implications that these big companies have on their performers, we don’t get to enjoy fashion without thinking about the negative implications that capitalism had on the humans that make the clothes, we don’t get to listen to music and watch movies and TV without talking about the way sexual harassment and assault has negatively implicated the entirety of the entertainment industry.
We don’t care that you’re an adult and you’re still a part of the fandom we care that you’re an adult and 90% of your personality is that fandom. Millennials have allowed themselves to put every inch of their heart and souls into pop-culture because they can’t handle it, because it is a pleasant distraction from the horrors that are happening in the real world. But newsflash us Gen Z can’t handle it either there is nothing in this world we would love to do than to blindly enjoy the things that we love. But we don’t have a choice anymore.
So enjoy what you want but don’t get mad at us for calling you out because you dropped the ball. You let us down the same way Boomers and Gen X did and were aloud to be fucking mad about it .
You are generalizing an entire generation of people. You expect us to have somehow perfected the world in 20 years. You expect all millennials to be free from prejudice. You feel entitled to have been born in a world that is kind and beautiful and repaired.
The world isn’t a perfect place. It will never be perfect. Change takes time. It takes more than one generation to shift societal thinking and to make permanent changes to laws to prevent racism, homophobia, transphobia, and misogyny. Do you understand how long it took to end slavery? To end segregation? Do you really think that millennials just sit around doing nothing? You feel burdened with this imperfect society you inherited. Well guess what? So did we.
You think that it’s wrong to for us to occasionally distract ourselves from the horrors of real life with media. It’s psychologically exhausting to constantly experience every horrible event happening in the world. The previous generation didn’t have this problem and we didn’t really have the Internet as children. Social media inundates us constantly with tragedy. It’s not normal. If you really think that people’s whole personalities are fandom, then you are clearly getting your idea of them from this website, which contains a fraction of millennials and a fraction of that who are obsessed with media.
You’re exaggerating and blaming the millennial generation for institutional problems. The people with institutional power are not millennials - they are Gen X. Many of us aren’t even old enough yet to occupy much power in the government. You’re not old enough to vote - we’re not old enough to hold office. The ones who have a voice like AOC are vastly outnumbered. Most people with political power are white men older than our parents.
You think we don’t think critically about society? You don’t think we examine media to find subtextual racism, homophobia, transphobia, and misogyny? You think you just somehow learned to do it on your own?
i know gays joke about the intimacy of hand touching and eye contact and whatever all the time and i love those jokes dearly but i think we’re all obsessed with these small barely visible gestures of love & closeness because bigger gestures ultimately make us targets for homophobia…like we want stories where gays gently touch hands at the train station or gaze at each other longingly or hug just a little too long etc because they reflect our real life experiences & usually those are the only kinds of public transgressions gay people are able to safely engage in. and sometimes not even that. sometimes a glance is enough to make you a target. sometimes you walk into a room and you’re a target. you know what i mean. gay intimacy is relegated to these infinitesimal moments because it is not allowed to exist otherwise. anyways im in a mood
I don’t know what we did to deserve Mr. Rogers but I’m so glad we had him.

I literally cannot rest and it’s all because of this tiktok
Azula confirmed for Smash DLC
I’m not sure how I feel about this video 😅
people reblogging that vidfeo of the actual dead human body stuffed in a bag in a suitcase cause it starts off as a quirky tictok video i dont maybe you shouldnt since thats a person. youre making other people look at a dead person a real person that died horrifically . thats a person. thats a person . theres a person in there. thats a person
If you see this:
Don’t watch it. Don’t like it. Don’t reblog it.
This is a confirmed thing. There are multiple news articles on it because they literally had to call the police. This happened in Seattle.
While the video does not contain gore it does contain images of the suitcase and them literally opening it.
Please. That’s a human. That’s a human being who was already disrespected and defiled enough to begin with. Please.
Don’t disrespect them and don’t push a video that makes people witness a dead body.
This is what I mean when I say social media is LITERALLY desensitizing us to tragedies. There’s no respect or regard for human life this is literally supposed to be clickbait. It’s supposed to be shocking and get the person who posted it views there’s no respect there’s no honor. This is just as bad as the stunt Logan Paul pulled going into the forest in Japan KNOWN for people going in to commit suicide this is a big trend in this generation and it needs to end immediately.

But you’re missing the rest (so far)
Someone: Barbie is a bad role model who forces inaccurate beauty expectations—
Me: Barbie was created in a time where sexism was very much prominent and fought to break gender norms by giving girls an independent and powerful female role model showing young girls that they could be who they wanted to be and got so much sexist backlash simply because the doll was meant to be a pretty girl who just so happened to be a part of so many prominently male-dominated fields of work, in this essay I will
Tl;dr: An Aryan-blonde doll with completely unrealistic body proportions, feet that will only go into high-heeled shoes, and an intense fixation on being ~fashionable~ is actually feminist, sweaty :)
Dumbfuck solipsistic girly-girls are bubonic plague.
so let’s talk about Barbie
because I see these two vastly different takes around a lot, and as a Doll Person(TM), I have my own thoughts on the matter
Barbie was created by a toy developer named Ruth Handler. a toy developer who was constantly being told by the men who dominated her field that little girls only wanted baby dolls they could mother. no matter that she’d seen her own preteen daughter eschewing baby dolls for paper dolls of adult women- girls must want to play at mothering, because that was all they were going to do when they grew up, right?
my own mom had a first-issue Barbie in 1959, when she was six years old. to her, Barbie was revolutionary. “Here was a doll,” she’s told me, “that you weren’t playing Mama with. Here was a doll who had a life and a career outside of the home. I’d never seen anything like that, and I loved it.”
the career was modeling, and Barbie did indeed look more like a fashion illustration than a human woman. all of these things were true at the same time- the independence and the traditionally feminine trappings thereof
Barbie was far from the first fashion doll intended for children- that honor went to the French lady dolls of the 1850s-90s, another type pioneered by a woman in a male-dominated field. and like Barbie, her great-grandmothers were fraught with controversy. but that’s a topic for another day
Barbie has been many things over her half-century of life. an astronaut, a president, a doctor- and a beauty pageant queen. a character who appears in videos about coping with depression- and a toy that once came with a tiny diet book that simply said “Don’t eat.” she’s come in a variety of races, but it took until 1980 for Barbies of color to actually BE Barbies, not just “Barbie’s friends.” she was created by a woman who saw that her daughter wanted to play out an independent future for herself, but that future took the form of a modeling job (not inherently bad, but not particularly challenging to the status quo of women’s employment at the time)
Barbie’s legacy cannot be neatly summed up as good or bad, empowering or oppressive. she’s complicated, as is our cultural relationship to her
but hey, what do I know? I’m just a dumbfuck solipsistic girly-girl
@marzipanandminutiae
Not to mention that the company has taken those criticisms about her body proportions and race into account and made an array of dolls all under the Barbie brand for all races and other body shapes.
I don’t know the source of this attached image, but it applies
