Hip hop refers to more than just the art and the music. It refers to the culture and the style and sound. Rap is the act): I feel that a lot of the newer rappers just are not impressive skill wise, and overall are not very compelling as artists. And that translates to limited replay value. It's also oversaturated as hell due to the low barrier of entry.

Also I think people have moved on to other genres of music. The genre didn't innovate much in the last fifteen years, and there's more exciting stuff going on elsewhere.
