imo, connect with them anyway. a lot of trump supporters as a demographic are white, rural, poor, older. these people remember the effects of socialist policy and the good it did for the economy, but are also under the influence of cold war though processes. something can sound good to them as long as the word “communism” doesnt fly. my father, a trump supporter, thinks we should lower the defense budget, tax the wealthy a proper amount, and give more funds to social security and like programs. yes, connect with your neighbors. we are all people, they are not the enemy, and alienating them will further the divide between us which is exactly what lawmaking republicans want— an easily controllable divided public.
