wyllstarion when you look at them a bit deeper are so So interesting to me in how they flip the "young naive good character who hasn't learned the truth about the world yet x old jaded amoral character" dynamic on its head because like. if you actually bother to see that between the two of them, Wyll is the one who's seen the world and experienced both some of the worst and the best it has to offer, and makes the conscious decision to fight against nihilism and resignation. he's not naive, he's optimistic in the best possible way, because he knows what he's talking about and he just refuses to accept things as they are! and then you have astarion who acts like he's this insanely jaded old man who's seen it all and knows what the world and what people are actually are like better than anyone else - until you realize just how unprepared for the world he is and how he just assumes that since all he's seen is the worst of the world, then it must be true, and that's. naivete, to me. he's naive. he doesn't actually know jack shit. he's almost embarrassingly childish and short sighted at times. and just idk man they compliment each other so well.
