things i learned from the directors commentary track for THUNDERBOLTS* that i thought id share with the class:
- almost everything that could be practical within reason was with a few background set extensions/exceptions and ofc the normal superhero shenanigan works which is INCREDIBLE???
- in the little guinea pig’s maze theres actually a model of yelena’s shame rooms as an easter egg
- jake’s notes on how they captured bob’s subtle shifts and personality changes really made me appreciate how much lewis pullman was able to get out of his performance with such little screen time in the grander scheme of the film!!
- it was wyatt russell’s idea for have john have a kid in his void scene (which is crazy considering olivia was pregnant in fatws iirc and imagine if they didnt have a kid and the implications of that???)
- theres also apparently a mug on one of the shelves in john’s home from lodge 49 “for the 10 to 15 lodge 49 fans watching this” according to jake lmao
- they filmed the limo scenes on a huge stretch of road in utah (where they filmed most of the desert stuff) and despite having 2-3 limos to work with the a/c was busted in all of them so i cant even begin to imagine the sweat situation in those suits
- the scene where bucky flips that final hummer is actually so beautiful with the sun coming through the clouds its insane and they were just so happy they got that shot
- the scenes in the van driving up to the tower were mostly improvised by the cast (including the helmet thing 😭)
- when theyre walking out of the tower after getting their asses beat by sentry apparently hannah john-kramer legit forgot to give sebastian stan his arm back and they kept it in the movie
- kevin feige actually pushed jake schreier in a positive way on a few directorial things and that weirdly gives me hope for doomsday
- jake says there were drafts of the script where we went through everyone else’s shame rooms but it was cut/reworked since going through bob’s made the most narrative sense and while i agree with that THINK OF WHAT WE COULD'VE SEEN!!!!!
anyways no one talk to me when december rolls around because i guarantee i will be inconsolable when doomsday finally comes out in one way or another

This man get's a little dirty and suddenly I'm whipped
I know Daryl Dixon and Eddie Munson aren't remotely the same (They might be, if I am delusional enough), BUT there's something about those types of men (Fictional) that I always fall in love with, and think they are sort of alike. They grew up in a trailer park and had abusive dads in the 70s/80s, and somehow they remain kind; they are the ones who people look at and judge before even knowing them, but once they have the chance to meet them are the most loyal, and they make sacrifices for the people they love, and still they can't seem to have a happy ending, so I just want to love them deeply because they aren't used to feel loved.
Bye, thanks for listening to my TED talk.
Me getting ready to hit refresh on the thunderbolts x reader tag
I'm so convinced that John Walker is supposed to show the way modern men are indoctrinated into violence by the military, awarded, exploited, shamed, and abandoned, left behind as veterans with no access to the tools and programs they were promised, living with ptsd and anger and grief and depression they can't explain or comprehend. And that we are supposed to see his journey and want better for him and get angry at the way he is left to pick up the pieces. And understand that he is not a perfect man because he was a perfect soldier. So it makes me inconceivably frustrated when people just say he's a bad person and murderer without understanding the context of where he was and who he is now
“YOU DIDN’T WAIT” “I DID WAIT”

i’ve been seeing some people say that thunderbolts was not good and im convinced it’s rage bait.
me personally i’ve dealt with deep depression, suicidal ideation, loneliness, and shame in a way that when i went and sat in that theater (first movie i ever saw by myself btw), and i heard that opening monologue it genuinely felt like i forgot how to breathe. looking around like cut the cameras, deadass
so many moments where i had to stop myself from sobbing…
bob and yelena calling the emptiness a void
the whole “daddy i’m so alone” spiel
bob lying to himself with “it’s fine” but the moment yelena sits by him and takes his hand he breaks
quite literally every single void line
the desperation in bobs flying punches as he’s trying to beat the emptiness out of him
the group holding him back and pulling him out, yelena telling him “you’re not alone”
i mean i walked out of that theater having felt so seen in a way i would’ve never expected from marvel. it’s just wild to me that some people saw it and went…meh
oh and found family trope and superheroes saving civilians scenes? i’m sat
anyway thanks for coming to my ted talk therapy session let us all 🕯️🕯️manifest their doomsday survival🕯️🕯️
John: *Turns on the kitchen light*
Bob: *Sitting at the table, eating bread*
John: It’s four in the morning.
Bob: Turn the light back off.
lookin strong, john!

I have been propagandized into loving John Walker, and I will never be the same.

John is that kind of boyfriend who says "what the fuck are you watching? you really like this shit?" and then stands in the middle of the living room staring at the TV invested asf
