HI THERE!!

I 100% have songs that I associate with my OCs! I actually have three spotify playlists for them; one for Ampelos, one for Owliver, and one that's a combination of the two!

But if I were to narrow it down to the songs that I most heavily associate with them then I'd go with this:

Ok, I think one of my favourite things about Ampelos that literally only I care about is how I picked his deadname.

For those who don't know, Ampelos' deadname is 'Amenda' and the way that I chose it was by going on google translate, setting it to English to Latin and typing in a couple options to do with deceit and lies (since he's a changeling) until I stumbled upon "Creatura Mendacii" or "Creature of Lies"

I then highlighted the above and boom. Amenda.

The reason his name is such a 'fuck you' is because he was left on the steps of a foundling hospital and was named by the Matrons. In DnD, changelings are often viewed as untrustworthy, dangerous and strange because of their impersonation abilities so I thought that it made sense that the Matrons would name him something that almost acted as a warning as well as 'punishment' for being who he is.

I also like to use the fact that Ampelos is a changeling as an allegory for being neurodivergent as he constantly had to keep up the appearance of a human in the hospital to avoid being completely alienated (metaphor for masking.)

In Irish mythology, changelings were called 'Sibhreach' and were said to steal away babies or loved ones, leaving a fae in it's place. Of course, these tales were often used as basis to accuse people (almost always neurodivergent people) of being changelings, and they would use violence and horrible rituals to 'prove' that they were Sibhreach.
