....hello. It's been a while 😭🤣 You know how it is: work, school, medical problems (turns out I have 2 extra bones?)... I honestly forgot I used to post on here, and just proceeded to lurk for a while
bUT I'm back (at least I'll try) with a doodle from a while ago, featuring my Wilds-Hunter and Werner. Listen, I fucking love Werner 😭 he's so blunt and straight to the point, I adore it.
My Hunter, Christòir, has pyromania and copes with that compulsive need to start fires by setting off controlled explosions during hunts. Be it through barrel bombs, bounce bombs or his Kinsect... or Werner. That man asked for help with testing a new barrel bomb once and Christòir latched onto him immediately (he's kinda starved for attention, lul).
Thing is, Christòir is missing 4 teeth and cannot for the life of him pronounce Werner's name properly- by now Werner gave up on correcting him, and it's turned into a gag. Werner couldn't remember his full name and now calls him Chris, and Christòir calls him Vee'na
Chris is still pretty young, around 17-ish and Werner is the only one who really 'gets' that Chris' brain works differently, too, so they kinda stick together. Chris is just happy to be here, Werner appreciates someone who's that eager to test his experiments
I just... after the Gognazios-hunt its so clear that Werner likes the Hunter and appreciates their company, he's just shit at showing it 😭 but the vibes he gave off during that dialogue was 100% "fire-forged friends" (get it, forged bc he's a blacksmith HAH (I'll see myself out now))
So... yeah. I could spend hours rambling on about how much I love Werner and the antics my Hunter gets up to (I'm literally writing a fanfic about them, recently hit 70+ pages on that thing), I just love these critters 😭

After the first encounter with Arkveld, during the fight with Uth Duna!! I really just love him so much 😭 the fact that he's asking if you carved the Monster (especially since it's marked as 'optional' during the quest). I just know that my Hunter would excitedly pull out some pretty scales and show them off, like a cat proudly showing their owner the mouse they caught
Lastly, before the Uth Duna quest. I vaguely remembered Werner showing up here and immediately started recording lul

So... for the past few months, I've been writing a fanfic about my Hunter, loosely following the plot of Wilds.
I'm not at a point where I feel confident in sharing it just yet, (honestly not sure if I'll ever reach that point lol *cries*) but there are a few snippets that are either funny, interesting or just plain an excuse for me to yap about my beloved boy again.
aLRIGHT, details below the cut:
This scene takes place post Zoh Shia, with the rest of the Expedition essentially celebrating at the Grand Hub. Like, "Yay! Quest complete! Anyway lets get drunk."
And Christòir being too young to drink, and also partially mourning for Zoh Shia* instead stole Mina's stash of candy, holed up somewhere and overate to the point of nausea. Still finished the candy tho.
*he was raised on the belief that every breath is precious, and while he just 'did his job' by slaying it, didn't Zoh Shia also just 'do its job' by guarding the Dragon Torch?
I like this scene, because... at his core, Christòir is still a teen and doesn't exactly know how to 'cope' with the darker parts of his job just yet. The Expedition is his first deployment away from home, and home.... eh, he was raised by Wyverians. And in my canon, Wyverians are notoriously bad teachers.
Not intentionally so, just... they're a lot more durable than humans, entirely different anatomy and mentality and all, and his teacher kept forgetting that one of her students was, well. Human. It's mostly played for laughs, but explains why he's more... delicate around mortality and stuff. Very different upbringing.
aNYWAYS, so his way of coping is just overeating on stolen candy, puking, then still finishing the candy to hide the evidence.
That scene is set after the main plot, where things are kinda... normal, and there's time for personal projects. One of Erik's: develop a new hunting drug, but he's really fucking bad at alchemy and essentially cooks up blood thinners.
Christòir ends up with a massive nosebleed, which his Kinsect is VERY eager to slurp up. And very concerned for his buggy's health, he goes to the medical wing despite hating, hating, HATING the checkups due to medical trauma.
(I based that behavior off actual butterflies, that happily drink blood and urine alongside nectar, lol)
Werner, wanting his help to run some tests on an experiment, walks in and just sees him brooding, accidentally spills that Erik didn't even have permission to make that drug and will probably get his ass beat by Olivia.
Christòir is eager to see him beg for mercy, given that he'll forgive any offenses as long as the aftermath is entertaining to watch.
Basically, the petty little fucker wants to watch a shakespearian play unfold.
This happens directly after, with Christòir musing that Erik's blood thinner would be useful for, uhm... 'extracting' Monster blood. Werner then proceeds to question why the FUCK he'd need such large quantities of blood that he'd want to streamline the process, given that there is absolutely NO reason for him to even need the blood.
Like, he doesn't use it to craft, he doesn't sell it, he doesn't consume it (nor does his Kinsect, Dizzy) so why does he need it???
...Christòir sends it to a friend, who specializes in blood-based Makeup. She also makes his eyeliner.
Not that he tells Werner about it (because he doesn't ask)
That one's just funny, because... again, Christòir has a weird upbringing and a skewed view of the world, so he barely even realizes that he's essentially a cryptid to his coworkers.
That's near the beginning, Werner coming across Christòir hanging out by the firepit in the middle of the night.
The main focus of the story is actually the budding friendship between Werner and Christòir! And that essentially marks the 'start', where they go from occasional coworkers to actual friends.
Christòir can't sleep, is drawn to the firepit by his pyromania and just mucks around in the dark. Werner, after 20+ hours of hyperfocus, tumbles out of his workshop a frustrated and dehydrated mess after running out of raw materials.
He stumbles across Christòir, briefly doubts his own brain (why isn't the fire doused, I thought it was night?) and then realizes it's just the Avis Hunter being weird.
Also he's not making a joke about Christòir's age, he literally can't remember if all Hunters have to follow a bedtime or if it's just Olivia being an old lady and always going to bed at 9*
(*in my canon, Olivia is around ~50, nearly twice Werner's age and really plays it up if it benefits her. She likes going to bed early, so she claims her joints ache if she isn't in bed by 9. No one questions her, but she still likes to mess with the 'youngsters'.)
...Christòir also doesn't outrank him, given that, y'know. Werner isn't a Hunter. But like any brooding teenager being told to go to bed, he's immediately trying to assert dominance and prove that he's not tired lol

I'm in the process of replaying Wilds to take notes/screen record the various interactions the Hunter has with the NPCs, and... hhhhh I just love that stupid boy so much 😭 Wilds does a great job at having the Hunter speak for themselves
Allow me to ramble on a bit,,,
Christòir's favorite food is Charred Lizards, he prefers juice over water and has an innate hatred for wearing shirts. Trying to force him to wear one will just get you bitten, and that little snaggletooth of his is deceptively sharp.
As mentioned in my previous post, Christòir has pyromania and he's constantly collecting random things to burn. Professor Fabius noticed that habit and put up an order that forbids him from ordering alcoholic beverages at the canteen- "For the safery of the collective".
...probably a good thing, given that one of Christòir's favorite things to play around with is lighter fluid. Doesn't mean that he's not annoyed at being so easy to predict, lul
And his left shoulder is completely fucked, partially related to his pyromania. I won't go into detail, but that incident left him with some pretty bad medical trauma, a desperate need to be aware of any potential 'variables' a fire might throw at him... and now he avoids hunting fire-element Monsters to his best ability.
(...then Gogmazios showed up, and I had fun making up angsty scenarios in my head).
