SoCal Stayca is here to show you all new adventurous and tasty places to go every week. Understandably everyone lives different lifestyles in which some people think a getaway is out of reach. However, SoCal Stayca is an eye-opening map of destinations and restaurants that are right in your backyard. California is home to deserts, mountains, National parks, and over 420 beaches. Not to mention all of the diverse restaurants, serving delectable food. Which the majority of locals have never tried. My objective is to provide a new destination and restaurant every single week so that way locals are informed of what’s at their fingertips. There’s no need to take a flight or spend thousands on a getaway. California is ranked the third-largest state in the U.S. making the possibilities endless!

Sunny Jim’s cave is located right in the heart of some of La Jolla main attractions such as the Children’s Pool, La Jolla Cove, and main boardwalks. Sunny Jim’s Cave is a one of a kind experience that you can do on a trip to the coastal town of La Jolla. This attraction is a located directed in The Cave store that has a 143 step man-made tunnel built into it that heads down to a large sea cave below. This tourist attraction has been around since the early 1900s, specially dug up in 1903. It has been giving visitors access to this cave year-round. Sunny Jim’s cave is the only cave in La Jolla you can get to without traveling over water on a kayak! It has become a a very popular, must visit spot in La Jolla. In this area you are surrounded by expensive restaurants and upscale boutiques, where the exploring is absolutely endless. That being said, it is getting pretty pricy to visit and all visitors must make reservations prior to attending. On my personal visit I was luck enough to arrive early and able to get free parking. Prior to this I was able to put my reservations for only $10 a person. Once you enter the cave store, you’ll be surrounded with historic paintings and beach-related knick knacks that you can purchase. And this is fair warning for all tall people trying to visit this excursion, because when walking down the 140 steps into the cave it is very steep and closed in with a very low ceiling. Then again don’t forget your camera and water because the path on the way up is defiantly an exercise! Check this place on your next SoCal Stayca with your family and friends. Don’t forget to take pictures and explore all that La Jolla has to offer which is all walking distance. And make sure not to feel the seals!

Realm of the 52 Remedies, not just serving food but granting an experience and telling a story. They are located right in the heart of Kearny Mesa hidden in a sports bar!. 52 Remedies finds all its inspiration from The Bingfang (Chinese: 五十二病方; pinyin: Wǔshí’èr Bìngfāng), translation to Recipes for Fifty-Two Ailments. The Wushi'er Bingfang is the longest Chinese medical transcript to ever be discovered in the tombs of Mawangdui. Inside the restaurant is referred to as the apothecary and is glorifying traditional Chinese methods of building peace and tranquility. The entrance itself is located in a sports bar with a hidden door. The door can only be opened by a wave of your hand over the glowing Chinese symbols. Once you enter you are completely transported into a whole different world. Moreover, the restaurant's amazing menu where all cocktails tell a story and pay tribute to one of the 52 remedies. Last but most important their delicious Chinese and Korean-inspired entrees such as the Shrimp Arancini and the Korean fried quail. It truly leaves you always you wanting more!

Cabrillo National Monument, located in Point Loma CA, where you and your family can take a day trip sightseeing, exploring the ocean, and hiking all in one. This specific destination has two museums right on the edge of the ocean. You're able to see and explore the inside of the old Point Loma lighthouse that was built in 1854. Taking the tour truly feels like opening a time capsule. In addition, the statue of Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo himself stands along the cliff of Point Loma where you’re able to read about Mr.Cabrillo’s life. Apart from a museum of artifacts and the history of Mr. Cabrillo‘s voyage of exploration. Right beside these historical monuments, you can visit the rocky intertidal zone. Where are you able to explore tide pools during low tide that are filled with tons of critters while watching the sunset. Visiting here allows you to hike small trails all around the historic sites, getting a view of all of Downtown San Diego at 462 feet above sea level!
