Can you beat Fallout: New Vegas as......
A Caveman?
The stone age is one of my favorite historical periods. Man in his infancy, relying on himself and his tribe to survive unimaginable weather and almost fantastical creatures without metal tools or weapons, modern medicine, or any transport cept his own two feet. So if you think the nuclear blasted Mojave desert wasnt hard enough, or you have been gifted a grave case of morbid curiosity, let's see how you can play New Vegas without guns or stimpacks. Hopefully this is shorter than my Billy the Kid post
If you've ever done the world a favor and shot up a few hundred legionaires, youll know that throwing spears are a thing in this game. And probably one of of the not most common weapons for cavemen, either Homo Neanderthalis or Homo Sapiens (the most famous of cavemen/prehistoric humans) were spears, throwing or not. So yeah this is a throwing spear run. You could probably make an argument for any melee weapon as a back up but im going to keep it simple and say keep a knife. Knives are prolific in the archeology which makes sense, since knives are useful not just as weapons but also for skinning and butchering food, helping make weapons, prepare food, cut materials like string or hide, etc. Again, whether or not to use legendaries are entirely up to you.
Now here's the crux of the challenge: how you heal. Cause back in twenty thousand bc they didnt have stimpacks or med x or any of that fancy shit. You are going to heal almost entirely by what you craft at a campfire. Its gonna be healing powders, meat from animals you hunt, and fresh fruit&vegetables. Sorry no nuka cola or sunset sarsaparilla today. You can use special recipes like cook cooks stew or death claw omelets, and you can get fixed up by doctors.
As for Specials? Id say put a couple extra in strength and endurance, since you needed both in the stone age. Maybe intelligence, since you had to be pretty smart to retain all that survival knowledge. As for looks? For either gender go with long hair, and probably a beard if your playing a dude since shaving was probably not that advanced. For clothing id go with the tribal armor any leather armor since, ya know, its made from leather.
As for factions? Im gonna admit im totally lost. Large scale war, governments and empires wouldnt become a thing until well after agriculture was a thing. So its all up to you.
Thanks for reading. Again feel free to give me any feedback and tell me if you do this.
