Respite, for Sobiweek. More complete and utter unabashed AU, since, again, that’s the only way I could figure out how to approach this that wouldn’t utterly smash my heart into smithereens. Padmé/Sabé/Obi-Wan (or Sobidala), with a slight hint of future Dormé/Anakin (or Dormekin), because (as mentioned before) I tend to be more of an either not yet fully requited or else tragically unrequited Padmé/ Sabé and Padmé/ Obi-Wan/Sabé girl, rather than a straight Sobiwan writer, and, if I was going to write something purely AU and therefore pretty much purely happy, with a prompt like this, then I really had to let all members of the triad be happy, which meant I also needed to at least raise the serious possibility of Anakin being happy with someone like Dormé at some point down the line, so no one would have to worry about Anakin feeling left out/alone/abandoned. This is definitely another glimpse of the same AU ’verse as my response for the Sobiweek prompt for Generations and etc. And again, this isn’t so much a full story as it is an idea of a story, wherein I’ve tried to hit as many of the relevant points as I could in what amounts to an extremely limited timeframe in which to work, so honestly, if anyone feels like taking any of these points and running with them, it wouldn’t bother me at all (as I honestly don’t have time to do a whole lot more with anything, unfortunately!). If I knew how to draw people at all, I would’ve drawn everyone with their lightsabers and shotos, especially the twinned lightsaber light blades or small swords/rapiers of Sabé and Padmé. It doesn’t come up in this, but the hilts of Sabé’s weapons are actually fashioned more like basket-hilts than not, and are made from cortosis (they are also fashioned to break away from the central grip, which can then be locked together to form a double-bladed ’saberstaff). It doesn’t come up in this, either, but for the curious, Dormé has grown up with blades more along the lines of a paired katana and wakizashi, and, with knowledge “liberated” from the Jedi Archives by a certain friendly Jedi Shadow about the creation of the infamous Darksaber, Sabé and Obi-Wan figure out how to help Dormé make frozen laser versions of the weapons she’s trained with since a small child, which end up being a pale gold – or white-gold, as Anakin later insists – for the katana and a deep rose gold for the wakizashi. (Later, after Sidious has revealed himself and the war begins, Dormé also trains a regiment of handmaidens who use frozen laser weapons fashioned essentially like a naginata paired with a wakizashi and one or more tantō for close quarters fighting. These handmaidens most often go into battle at her side, at Anakin and Ahsoka Tano’s sides, though they also support Lady Amidala and Queen Kandala when they fight with Obi-Wan and supplement the ranks of handmaidens who fight mainly with lightsabers and shotos.)

Rival treasure hunters Sabé and Obi-Wan have run into each other at ancient sites all over the globe. When one of them takes an artefact that should have been left in peace, they must team up to save the world from the evil they unwittingly unleashed. To their surprise, they make a good team. Maybe it would make a good future arrangement too.

Unraveled, for Sobiweek. More complete and utter unabashed AU, almost certainly either another glimpse of the same AU ’verse as my response for the Sobiweek prompt for Generations (though something very like this also eventually happens in the AU of the Sobiweek prompt for Roots and, indeed, probably every AU where they get eventually get their collective act together and get properly together). (And believe me, folks, if I knew how to draw, I would draw the three of them together, Padmé’s curls wrapped around Sabé’s fingers and Obi-Wan’s hair tickling her skin.)

Also, not to be crude or anything, but my head bloody hurts and I’m really, really bloody tired of anonymous trolls. So consider for a moment that the Jedi are essentially beloved of the Force (there’s a line from an old EU book that always comes to mind for me, about how, since the Jedi battle for life, nature cherishes them, in turn, so they cannot die … or it is, at the very least, very, very hard to kill a Jedi). We see Jedi in canon routinely perform seemingly impossible feats of physical strength and endurance and agility, and we also are routinely shown that age matters little to nothing, when it comes to those same seemingly impossible physical feats (witness Qui-Gon Jinn supposedly being one of the Order’s finest duelists canonically at the age of sixty, Dooku canonically capable of fighting off multiple Jedi opponents at once when in his eighties, and Yoda, who’s well over eight hundred years old, essentially frightening Dooku off, after he’s neatly dispatched both Obi-Wan and Anakin, among other seemingly impossible examples of physical prowess as a warrior). Now consider for a moment all of that overwhelming physical prowess – stamina, strength, agility – being brought not to a battlefield but instead to a bedroom, in literal worship of life and of love. (Yeah, I am going there, because, first of all, I’m frankly tired of having people who seem to have no problems whatsoever with triads involving two males and a female turning their noses up and scoffing over a triad involving two females and a male, and, second of all, this involves something that I’ve always thought of as being fairly glaringly obvious and I’ve always been kind of shocked that apparently it isn’t something that’s occurred to a lot more people than just me.) Now, honestly, folks, keeping all of that in mind and keeping in mind how the Jedi are canonically presented, how many of you really still think that this triad is impossible/unworkable, based solely on the assumption that Obi-Wan simply wouldn’t be able to keep up with both Padmé and Sabé? Because honestly, to me? The physical power (and endurance) imbalance seems to be pretty darned heavily weighted towards Obi-Wan, not the two women (even if Sabé is Force-sensitive), and yes, I actually do know that a woman who’s properly hydrated and in the mood with time to kill and a willing enough partner (or not, depending) can easily go for hours. Just consider, logically, what a Jedi, regularly capable of seemingly impossible acts of strength/agility/endurance, with reserves of energy constantly available from the Force and in the mood (especially one who is deeply in love) could also very likely do and for how long, before you automatically start scoffing at the idea, maybe, yeah?

Rival Spies.

Threshold, for Sobiweek. It may not seem like it, at first glance, but I’m pretty sure this is actually in the same AU as my response for the Sobiweek prompt for Generations, only much earlier on (early enough that it reads almost as an in between or a behind the scene glimpse at the trip to Tatooine, after fleeing from Naboo). Honestly, to me, this reads is more like a scene or a chapter introduction than an actual story, but I tried to do what I could in the limited timeframe, and, again, if anyone feels like taking anything from this and running with it, it wouldn’t bother me at all (as I honestly don’t have time to do a whole lot more with anything, unfortunately!). 

Personal headcanon shows up here (regarding Sabé being raised by her maternal grandparents [hence, her last name, Dahn]), mostly because I am used to thinking of her this way and frankly I’m just not impressed enough by anything that’s been said about Sabé canonically or by DISNEY to change my thinking. There’s also some personal worldbuilding details regarding Naboo’s past and headcanon about the trip to Tatooine regarding how long it actually takes in a ship with a hyperdrive and/or engines that are basically blown out due to all the damage taken by the ship running the Trade Federation blockade of Naboo.
