One thing I see a lot is people suggesting canes as a catch-all mobility aid for everyone who has mobility issues. Canes are not for weight bearing! If you use a cane for heavy weight bearing long term, you will hurt your wrists and back! Canes are for balance. There are also different types of canes, but someone else can probably explain those better than I can.

A crutch/pair of crutches is better for bearing weight, particularly forearm/support crutches if you're going to be using them a lot and don't want to strain your wrists, or platform crutches if you don't have a lot of arm strength.

Walkers/rollators are good for if you do have arm and hand strength and need a place to sit down or need to carry a lot with you, but very very bad if you can't weight bear well with your arms or pull the brakes easily. You will often need to be able to use your foot to maneuver it over a slight lip, too. If you can't do all of those things you will hurt yourself.

Wheelchairs are a whole lot more complicated and I don't feel qualified to speak on that (I've only ever used improperly fitted chairs, and have suffered permanent damage because of it).

Mobility scooters are great for going outside alone if you don't have the arm strength for a manual chair, as they can handle terrain that an motorised wheelchair often can't, but are harder to maneuver in small spaces (especially bulky class 3 scooters, which aren't designed for indoor use at all) and usually aren't suitable for full time use. If you need more support they most likely won't be suitable either, the seats are usually not designed with support for people who cannot hold themselves upright and generally do not have a seatbelt by default. I'm working on a proper guide for this and will hopefully post it soon!

There's also deconditioning to keep in mind, which is very important to think about if you aren't doing physiotherapy. You also need to consider things like pressure sores, which you will be especially prone to in seated mobility aids if you aren't able to reposition yourself regularly or have loss of sensation in or awareness of any part of your body.

The pillow-shaped object here used to be the phone’s battery. It’s not a battery anymore. Now it’s a balloon full of corrosive, pyrophoric chemicals and hydrogen gas and it’s one puncture away from burning your house down. I am 100% serious. You should be scared to touch it.

But you gotta touch it, because you gotta get it out of your house before the pressure builds up to the point where the balloon pops. This isn’t going to happen soon – there is no need to panic – but it will happen eventually.

And, indeed, it doesn’t go in the ordinary trash. You put this in the ordinary trash and you’re gonna set the garbage truck on fire. Don’t do that to the garbage collectors, their job is hard enough already.

The first thing you need to do is get a fireproof container. The most common household item that qualifies as a fireproof container is a cast-iron cookpot with a cast-iron lid – often sold as a “Dutch oven.” Any other cooking container that’s unreactive, has a very high melting point, and has a lid made of the same materials will also work: enameled or stainless steel, Pyrex with glass lid, etc.

However: Do not use a pot with a PTFE-based non-stick coating. If the battery does explode, the fire will probably be hot enough to degrade a PTFE coating, producing toxic smoke. (Not that you should breathe the smoke from the battery fire either, but PTFE breakdown products are worse.) Do not use a pot made of aluminium or copper. The fire might even get hot enough to melt those.

Whatever container you use, you might have to throw away along with the phone, so don’t use your good Dutch oven for this. Go to a thrift store and buy a cheap one.

Once you have the fireproof container:

Gently pick up the phone and put it in the fireproof container. If possible, gently tape the phone to the bottom of the container to prevent it from bouncing around. Don’t put any padding in there, that’ll just make a fire worse if it does happen. Put the lid on and tape it shut.

Put a label on the container, something like “DEFECTIVE LI-ION BATTERY – FIRE HAZARD”.

It is now reasonably safe to move the container around. However, if the battery does explode, the container is very likely to leak smoke and get hot, so keep it in a well-ventilated area and away from things that will be damaged by heat. Don’t leave it exposed to the weather, either.

You need to find either a hazardous waste disposal site, or an e-waste recycler that will accept defective Li-ion batteries. I can’t help with that because I have no idea where you live.

However, your local fire department, if you have one, will probably be happy to help. Call their non-emergency number. Nothing is on fire yet, so this isn’t an emergency, but things that can easily start a fire are still within the fire department’s responsibilities. Tell them you have a phone with a bulging lithium-ion battery, you put it in a fireproof container, and you want to know how to dispose of it safely.

If the fire department tries to tell you this isn’t dangerous or it’s okay to throw it out in the regular trash (with or without fireproof container), hang up on them and write a cranky letter to your local government representatives, then keep looking for a proper disposal site.

Sending out Sparky

She is an inventor/engineer/ whatever the fuck she wants to make and is a Fiddleford variant (which she tries to stray away from the name sake as that was a previous life she has no part in) that Ford's who knew Fiddleford before his deletion and Sparky's reborn just calls her Fiddleford which she hates but deals with as that is majority of her customers.

She is know around the underground multiverse (the illegal side of it) as "A mouse that can make you whatever you need" and will go around the universe stealing and grabbing trash/valuables from anything!

Dead bodies she may or may not have killed, peoples pockets/purses/backpacks, ect.!!!

She has also collapsed a dimension before

Now where or not that was for a reason or not is up for speculation.

Also the Space IRS is after her and she has no knowledge of this

I'm not sure how one would kill her as she is a biomechanical robot that is pretty much indestructible as her old creator wanted her to live forever (to her detriment or not)

See, this is a bounty that would have to be pretty high. MW wouldn't settle for less than a million credits minimum, and even then he's likely to barter a lot to drive up the price. He's aware that Sparky is above his typical paygrade - but also mostly she seems like a REAL inconvenience to go get.

A Fiddleford without a Ford is pretty atypical. From an Anchor Point perspective, she's more or less missing hers - which is a point in his favour for going after her. At the same time, he does more or less recognise that this isn't Fiddleford, so that point plays against itself a bit too. It doesn't fit into his neat autistic ass categorisation of the world and that sure gives him a headache about it.

I'd say about 30% ish odds on him actually taking AND committing to the hunt, less if he isn't able to barter the price above 1 million. More likely if he had any form of negative dealings with her prior to this.

The hunt itself is a more tricky one. If she's as indestructible as you say, it may genuinely just be easier to put her in some form of stasis/sleep/incapacitated state as opposed to properly killing her. And... blood??? Does she have blood?? That's sorta his thing. If she doesn't have blood that's more difficult to deal with.

The element of surprise would definitely be necessary. He might plant enchanted mirrors around spots she frequents and try to scry them and wait for her to pop up - attempt a quick in and out. Depending on the biomechanical nature of her (he'd do his homework), he's likely to try a primarily electric method to short-circuit her/generally knock out or paralyse her. Whatever he uses, he's not taking any chances and he's basically going to keep some form of device on her that regularly/continuously pulses to try and keep her under. He has learned the hard way what happens if you underestimate indestructible enemies.

Another way he might try to take her by surprise is to utilise her relationships with other Fords. Because of his mirroring ability, he can take on the forms of his other selves, so any Fords he sees Sparky interact positively with he may take time to prepare a decent enough impression of them. He's similarly one of the rare Fords who actually can lie (a skill he developed out of necessity) so I'd say depending on how trusting Sparky is of the Fords in her life, she may be in trouble there.

Dupre is a fem puppet Ford variant, from a world similar to the Happy Time Murders movie, where puppets are seen as lower class citizens. Instead or focusing on science, she focused on art, and became an art history teacher. She accidentally summons bill through an old history book, and asks her Fiddleford to build the portal. She lost touch with her sister, and was never able to contact her, so she jumped in head first to kill her Bill in a suicide bomber style mission. (She succeeded about 6 years in. But it left some. Effects.)

She has the classic ford disposition, just. A lot more aggressive. She’s very vulnerable, so her survival strategy is to act as wild and feral as possible in order to get people to leave her alone. She makes it a hassle to attack her. Even in safer areas, she can be very dangerous due to her brain blowing things out of proportion, and making her believe things are a threat when they’re not.

(She’s an arsonist, and she has pyromanic tendencies.)

She is motivated by her sister and misses her constantly (she doesn’t even know if her sister is alive or not, because she didn’t get to see her before the portal) she has complicated feelings about her Fiddleford (she still considers her a friend, but recognizes that her and Fiddleford treated each other horribly) and she is. Indifferent to her bill. (She despises them, but. They’re already dead, and she feels them rotting. She’s not going to waste energy hating something that doesn’t even deserve to be remembered.)

Fairy marriage could be tricky. The Fae are notorious for being trouble sometimes, and universe guy... yeesh, okay. Though all in all, Dupre herself seems simple enough, if you ignore the suicide bomber attitude towards things that MW really doesn't wanna test.

As a Ford, her ratio is all wrong. She's all Stanley, no Bill and her Fidds is a mess. He wouldn't feel bad for her, she's got no balance with her Anchor Points and he figures she's probably headed for a bad ending anyway (so in a sense is it really not just a mercy kill? (it is not))

For the extra complications and allies, he'd take maybe a few tens of thousand of credits or so, maybe more. He does appreciate a Ford who gets rid of her Bill, though, and he does typically try to avoid targetting Fords who are anti-Bill about it.

For the Bill-killing, sister she's gotta get back to and connections, I'd say there's only a 50% shot at him actually going for it - but it is that high because he'd feel confident he could actually get her.

If Dupre is the sort of person who gets aggressive and feral and makes a scene, he would decide on a subtler/deceptive approach. If he knows he can't outright go after her in public, he'll either try to lure her out on her own or (more likely) he'll mirror a Ford she trusts. (Dr Pine feels like he'd work well for this purpose)

He'd spend some time practicing his impersonation, handle a good enough disguise and then approach Dupre as normally as possible whilst it's just the two of them, wait til her guard is down, and...! Well :) Yeah.

Guns are good, but idk how well they work on puppets. MW can have claws, so he could tear her up potentially. Or if she's wanted alive, he could find some way to stun or otherwise incapacitate her. She seems like her biggest challenge would be who she can call for to help, along with her mistrustfulness, so the emphasis would be placed on appearing like someone she can trust and preventing her from reaching out to others once shit hits the fan by whatever means he can manage. If they can't because she's dead, well...

Either way, with a married figure he'd be cautious enough to know not to un-mirror his form until he's well out of dodge. If someone saw him that could be bad because vengeance in the multiverse etc. etc.
