So I am currently slogging my way through Memnoch the Devil by Anne Rice. Iโm stuck in what is practically a chapter long monologue by Memnoch about the creation of Earth.
I wonโt lie. Iโm bored.
I want relationships, I want action, I want vampires. And in all honestly, I just want some plot.
So when looking up online if anyone else is in the same situation as me, Iโm actually so surprised to see such a range of opinions. Iโm seeing:
โThis is the best book sheโs ever written. It changed my whole life!โ
To the next comment being:
โThis book was so bad I gave up the whole series.โ
Iโm glad Iโm not the only one feeling this way (I donโt want to DNF it because I want to read the rest of the series and Iโve heard it picks up near the end) but I find it so weird and cool that everyone has such varied opinions on it.
Oh wow, it's been years since I read that book and I remember thinking the exact same thing. I loved the vampire chronicles so much, it was my obsession. Memnoch kinda killed it for me. It was extremely beautifully written and extremely boring as hell. I love Anne Rice's writing, but a lot of her books are like that, I feel.
