“Stick By My Side, ‘Cause You’re Sweet As Can Be”- my 2016 SNK MiniBang entry! Levi/Eren, SFW, 6k words.

This ficlet was written for the @snkminibang and this is the fifth and final chapter!!!

“Are they really sure about this?”  Marco wonders as he climbs into the driver’s seat.  “Maybe I’m better off just–”

“You’re going to have to fight Carla Jaeger if you’re trying to get out of her hospitality and that’s a fight you’ll lose,” Jean blandly retorts as he buckles his seatbelt and stretches his legs out underneath the dashboard.

Marco bites his lip nervously, feeling very uneasy about the prospect of meeting Mrs. Jaeger.  “What if she regrets letting me stay?  What if she dislikes me?  What if I get a bad vision in the middle of the night and freak out and wake her up and make her angry? What if..”  As he voices his worries Jean sighs, unbuckles his seatbelt, and climbs out of the truck to open the driver’s side door.

“That’s it, scoot over.  I’m driving today.”

“What?”  Marco squeaks but unbuckles and slides down the bench seat anyway.  He’s so distracted by his thoughts that he smacks his knee against the gearshift and yelps in pain.

Jean sighs again before climbing into the driver’s seat.  “Calm down, okay?  You’re too nervous to drive, so let me handle this.”  He tugs on the sleeves of his sweatshirt so they cover the palms of his hands before he settles them over the steering wheel.  His fingers still brush against the leather though,causing him to freeze, tenseness making his fingers twitch around the wheel.  Marco knows more than anybody that there’s a lot of memories lingering in this truck, so he can’t help the guilt that gnaws at his stomach when he sees Jean’s newfound tension.

As if sensing his thoughts, Jean turns to him and sticks his tongue out before retorting,  “Look, I’m fine and you’re gonna be fine, okay?  Geeze, if Mama Jaeger is nice to me, the asshole that sent her son home with multiple black eyes in high school, she’ll love you.  Relax.”

Marco ducks his head in embarrassment.  He knows he’s probably overreacting, but he can’t help it.   This is all so new.

Historia came to them with two bowls of stew, handling them to them with a solemn face. The sight of the girl serving them food made Erwin feel another overwhelming wave of guilt.

“Took you some time, Captain”, Erwin said instead, taking in the sight before him.

“You don’t always have to be so cruel to others, you know,” She said, a bite of anger coming to her tone. […]

“Aw, does it bother you when someone else doesn’t buy in to your sweet charms?” She mused teasingly.

Ymir said lowly, her tone tinged with irritation and distrust. Her words caused Christa to flinch and look up, glaring ever so slightly, to meet Ymir’s gaze.

Without a second thought, Christa grabbed the corner of Ymir’s jacket and pulled her down into a quick kiss. Never before had rum raisin tasted so good.

“What..is it?”

And you said you didn’t want to be a Pokémon Trainer.”

 “I don’t,” Levi remarks on autopilot, smoothing his palm down the short length of the Fennekin’s body. It gets bolder with its movements the more Levi touches it, and then pops up on its hind legs and paws at Levi’s pants. “Okay, okay, calm down,” he murmurs to it, scooping the tiny Pokémon into his arms and standing with it cradled there.

 He doesn’t even realize Eren is watching him intently until he hears an unmistakable cooing sound, and responds by glaring and (carefully) flipping him off. After all, he doesn’t want to drop his Fennekin.

 Eren laughs. “Sorry, but that’s literally the cutest fucking thing I’ve ever seen.”

“Do you take pictures too?” Jean says. There’s a gleam in his eyes that Marco can’t place but he brushes it off with a shake of his head

“No way. I mostly like to mess around with watercolors and simple things. Nothing so complex and intimidating. I don’t really have the time for any of that what with medical school coming up.”

“I’m sure he-they never meant to intimidate one of their fans. He probably loves that someone admires his work so much”

My third piece for the @snkminibang! This was done for @mamaarachne‘s super cute college!AU fic “Develop”. It was an honor to get to draw for you, hun! Definitely go and give this fic a read, because it’s very cute. I can’t wait to see the rest of it.
