An event for the Snapedom | Writing and Art Prompts for April Fool’s Day 2022 | run by @severusish | ty @incrediblemrviper for the fantastic icon/pfp 💛
This is a five-day April Fool’s themed event created for the Snapedom.
The five days are March 28, 29, 30, 31, and April 1st, which is April Fool’s Day.
Background:
April Fool’s Day is a tradition that has been active since the 1700s at least if not before (some sources say that it’s been active since 1582 in France, where they call it ‘Poisson D’Avril’, or ‘April Fish’). The event typically starts on the day(s) before April 1st and includes April 1st itself. The tradition consists of each person having to do a practical joke or a prank on someone else, or saying some wildly untrue statement (or a lie) and then revealing that it was a joke by saying “April Fools!” or the equivalent in other countries.
✨ Rules and Prompts below the cut! ✨
💜 Rules 💜
Each day of the event has two prompts, and you can do one or the other, or both. You can do this event weeks or months later, you don’t have to be on time! Just tag the event tags or the blog url to get reblogged!
Some prompts may have explanations underneath them in the highlight in case some people need clarifications.
NOTE: Snapril Fool’s Day has four prompts, not two. Just to spice things up!
MANDATORY: Your responses to the prompts must include Severus Snape. Ideally they’d mention or show Snape at least once. In a perfect situation, they’d feature your favorite Snape ship or your least favorite Snape ship or a crack ship or a rare pair. But generally speaking you get a pass as long as it’s Snape related!
💛 Prompts 💛
March 28:
I. CHARACTER: Choose a character — what sort of prank would they play on their friends or romantic interest on April Fool’s Day? Who would fall for the prank and who wouldn’t?
II. CLEVERNESS: Prank your followers by making a long post / artwork / fic that is Snape related but highly unusual for you. Say whatever you want to say in order to convince your followers — it has to be outrageous but still slightly believable — the goal is to trick people into believing you. (For example make a post about your NOTP saying that you love it, or your OTP saying that you can’t stand it, come up with a new Snape pairing saying that it’s the best, make a crack ship post saying you love them forever, etc.) In the absolute last tag under the post put #snaprilfools — and then see which of your followers fall for the joke and who doesn’t!
March 29:
I. Acting the fool / being foolish
II. Gullible / Naive
March 30:
I. Medieval AU. Go back in time to the Medieval Wizarding World. What is it like? Who – and where – is Snape?
(ideas: a king’s court, knights in shining armor, ladies of the court, jousting matches, court jesters, tournaments, a ball, feasts)
II. Jester’s Privilege. What can Snape get away with (humor, jokes, pranks, lies) when he’s interacting with Dumbledore or Voldemort that no one else can get away with?
Jester/Court Jester: a professional joker or ‘fool’ at a medieval court, typically wearing a cap/hat with bells on it and carrying a mock sceptre.
Jester's privilege is the ability and right of a jester to talk and mock freely without being punished by the king or anyone else.
March 31:
I. PRANK. Joke shop / Weasleys’ Wizarding Wheezes
II. EXCURSION. Hogsmeade Outing
April 1 / Snapril Fool’s Day:
I. ONE. April Fool’s Day at Hogwarts
II. TWO. April Fool’s Day in the Wizarding World
III. THREE. April Fool’s Day with the Order of the Phoenix

No major character death, bit of gore, and Severus being flippant about his own death sentence.
-x-
Black as pitch was the night that Severus Snape was lead to his death. The moon was but a fingernail and it was hidden behind thick clouds far above the stretching treetops. Severus had been in his home, a small cabin on the outskirts of the woods, when the knock had came. He’d been expecting it for some time as Potter and his friends had taken a disliking to him- a hatred for him, really- and were always finding axes to grind with him. It was only a matter of time before they showed up on his doorstep with the docile, spineless, Sheriff Lupin to declare Severus a witch and take him away from his beautiful little piece of the village.
His home was meager, only one room, but it sufficed nicely for his needs. The forest was ripe for foraging and Severus reveled in his time spent in the woods, sometimes by daylight, other times by moonlight. He knew of the whispers in town about his night time treks into the woods. He’d heard the outlandish gibberish that he’d been seen dancing in the woods- dancing!- under the eerie glow of moonlight. Some said they’d seen him making marks in the moss and the soil. Some said he went to the woods to speak with the Devil. But it was only to forage. There was no devil, no dancing, the marks perhaps, but Severus was careful about them. He was able to make them seen only to his eyes. Still, the rumors flew, though they may have remained as such had Potter and his gang not had it out for Severus for other, more personal, reasons.
Severus took one last look around his home.
The walls were hung with drying herbs and flowers beautiful shades of dried color. His beloved cauldron hung in the fireplace and his broom rested against the stone side of it. He watched as the sparks danced bright and merrily beneath the cast iron and he knew that soon he would be in its place with fire licking at his person, in the center of the town, on display for all.
The banging on the door grew louder, more insistent.
Severus sighed as though he was merely put out by his death sentence.
He gave one last listen to the raindrops pattering on the window panes and then he headed for the door and opened it.
“We’ve got a warrant for your arrest for practice of witchcraft, Snape,” said Potter.
Severus merely nodded.
“You’ve wanted me gone for some time, Potter,” he said, “the supposed witchcraft is only an excuse, just as it’s been an excuse for so many other deaths.”
“Here here,” said Lupin, speaking up a bit, “I don’t issue these things lightly, you know.”
“You would issue anything for your gang of merry morons,” Severus sneered.
“Shut it, Snape,” said Black, who loomed tall and dark behind Potter. He flashed Severus a smile, clearly enjoying the show.
“Allow me to grab my traveling cloak, and I’ll come without a fight,” Severus said.
“Traveling cloak,” Black sneered, “what’s it matter for? You’re going to be dead this night.”
Someone has cursed a bunch of bananas on top of Snape’s head. They won’t get off. The bananas stick there and ain’t disappearing no matter what spells and counter-curses he has tried.
Needless to say, Severus doesn’t find this funny at all but he gets smiles (not so hidden) from his colleagues and students.
No one dares to confess they did it because there’s no guarantee of consequences. How many months of detention would this cause?
Of course, one could wear them like a pro:
This is based on April Fool’s prompt by @snaprilfools - I hope you’ve had all a wonderful 1st of April!

About this post:
Humor drawings usually don’t come so naturally to me but when this idea was ignited I couldn’t help but do it.
Someone may recognise the reference from popular culture, more specifically a music video, which I used in this. I think the reference suits well to Severus, the main character have something similar and maybe also the song suits Sev too 😁
And also aesthetically the banana hat looks kinda cool and I just wanted to do it :D
So, did you get fooled for this first day of April? The best joke that happened to me was that it was snowing outside when I got up, and it's not even a joke actually. I have to specify that I live in France, not in Groenland.
I made a little drawing to celebrate @snaprilfools, nothing hightly elaborated or ambitious but I wanted to draw Severus and Lily enjoying April 1st during their studies at Hogwarts.
I don't know if that exists in other countries (I realised while I was drawing that it may only be a french thing), but there is a little game you play with friends and family, that is to stick little fish notes (that you've previously drawn on paper and cutted out) on the back of persons you like without them noticing. It's basically a pretty cute and harmless joke. That's why we call it a "Poisson d'Avril", what litteraly means "April's fish", in place of April fools.
So I drew Lily being very proud of herself cause Sev' didn't notice he's been having her fish sticked on his back for the whole time he'd been studying outside...But what Lily didn't realise is that she also have been fooled, as dear Prongs's stuck his own fish on her back. Well, I hope Severus won't get mad cause James is totally the kind to write "Marry me Evans" on the reverse side of the fish. ._.
Of course, something like this would never happen if the tradition doesn't exist in Great Britain. Sorry if that creates an incoherence, I really never thought about it as for me April 1st is totally related to this tradition. Tell me if you knew about the paper fishes, I'm curious. 🐟
Hope you've found it funny anyway and that you got agreably fooled in this first day of April. 🤗 "Poisson d'Avril!"
idk what happened at tumblr hq recently, but whoever’s running the show now really has their fingers on the pulse of tumblr’s userbase in a way they haven’t had for the past few years
now if you’ll excuse me, i must get back to my crabs

I think I’m just growing bored with Snape. I mean, how much can you really do with him? I think I’m going to return to my young love of Draco and focus more on him. Draco really deserved that redemption arc anyway. It wasn’t really fair that Snape got it. Draco was a young man in a situation where his family was used against him, he had no choice but to do the things he did, and he obviously didn’t want to. He was scared and having a breakdown over his duty in the bathroom. (Duty in the bathroom haha). Yeah, Draco was a bully, but kids can grow and change and he changed from that school yard bully into someone who was beaten down by his parents mistakes and his obligation to his family. That’s way more interesting than some overgrown dungeon bat.
The sun was burning down on the small riding party as they made their way up the hilly road. Once they reached the top the party came to a halt. Severus raised his hand to wipe the sweat from his forehead. They had spent the last three nights riding to the court of the King. After twenty years of civil war, following the death of King James, the realm had been finally reunited under the true heir to the throne, Harry I. of House Potter. The new king had called for all of the Lords of the Realm to come to the capital and bend the knee to him. Therefore Severus had come as the representative of House Prince to do as his King commanded. But as he travelled the Kingsroad he found himself ridden with doubts. What if he was walking right into a trap? After all he and his family hadn’t been loyal to the King from the start. What if the King sought revenge for Severus‘ betrayal of Queen Lily?
"Mylord? Shall we continue?" the words of his squire ripped Severus from his down spiralling.
"Yes. Tell the men we‘re walking on." And with that the troop of riders continued on their journey.
They rode for many hours more until they were met with the sight of Hogwarts castle, seat of the royal family. It was a large build with sevaral large towers and turrets reaching into the sky above. Flags presenting the royal sigil, a golden stag on scarlet ground, were flowing from the tips of each of them. Severus slowed his horse as they rode over the drawbridge that led into one of the castle’s many courtyards. Severus had last been here when he attended the royal academy over twenty years ago.
Inside the castle he was shown to the guest wing where he was able to clean himself up before his audience with the King. He also changed himself from his travelling cloak into a clean, black doublet that sported his family crest, a crowned silver serpent with emerald eyes. The throne room was a large hall with a high, enchanted ceiling that portrayed a starry night sky. The windows were made out of stained glass portraying the sigils of all the noble and ancient families of the realm. At the end of the hall stood a large golden throne on which sat the new King. Before Severus arrived in the capital he had heard many tales of the orphan turned ruler. Most people believed him to be the spitting image of his father save for his green eyes. As Severus looked upon the King he found those tales to be wrong. While Harry had indeed inherited his fathers physical appearance he lacked the air of joy and mischief that had always surrounded his father. Instead he wore a look of seriousness and sadness that made him appear far older than his twenty one years. One of the heralds announced him as he approached the throne and Severus bowed down on the spot.
"Rise." The King said coldly.
Severus rose and took a look at the people present at court. He didn’t recognise any of them. From reports Severus knew that the King‘s godfather, Lord Sirius Black, had been killed in battle as well as Sir Remus Lupin the long time mentor of King Harry. Most other people Severus knew from his time at the Academy were either dead, imprisoned or had fled the country. On the left side of King Harry sat a tall young man with ginger hair and many freckles, on the left sat a young woman with the same ginger hair, Severus assumed these two to be Ronald Weasley and Ginevra Weasley. The former was the Kings Hand and the latter his Betrothed. Another person next to Ginevra Weasley caught Severus‘ eye. There stood a beautiful young woman with brown hair and brown eyes who was dressed in a scarlet dress. The king rose making Severus‘ attention turn back to him.
"Lord Prince I‘m glad you arrived. Please do follow me."
And with that the King led him out the throne room and into the royal gardens. "Lord Snape as already proclaimed I am glad you travelled to court and bend the knee. I have to admit I wasn’t sure wether you’d come. You did betray my mother after all." The King said while he eyed Severus carefully.
"Your Grace I assure you, that you have my loyalty and that of my house and its vassals."
"And I would love to believe your word, Lord Snape, but I cannot put the well being of my people in danger. It is because of that that I have decided to make you prove your loyalty."
"And how exactly am I to do that, your Grace?"
"Simple, Lord Snape. You remember the young woman next to Lady Ginevra? Her name is Lady Hermione Dagworth-Granger and she is one of my most loyal subjects. You will be wed to her."
To be continued?
Okay so I wrote this for the snaprilfoolsday celebrations. To be fair this was largely inspired by my recently reinvoked love for A Song of Ice and Fire. As well as the Snamione fic "Knighthood" by the lovely Ciule on AO3. I'm also pretty sure that I'm gonna make this into a larger fanfic. (I really want to write a tourney scene)

Peer reviews have just come out! What do the people of the Snapedom think of @snaprilfools ?
So far, @rantxiety and @incrediblemrviper think it is chaos. And justly so.
Join in on the fun! And while we’re at it, please also join @snapecelebration’s general Snapril Event 2022 if you haven’t already. And if you haven’t already I am shocked. 😶
I mean, Lucius Malfoy is kind of a priss, isn't he? I just don't understand why Severus would want to be with him. The man probably doesn't know a day of honest work while Severus is someone whose life is defined by hard work.
Moreover, Lucius is SO vain. If Severus had a breakdown in the bathtub the man would probably just wash his shiny blond hair in the shower.
Severus may be pale, but he’s strong and powerful. He’s been out-and-about in the rough neighbourhood of Cokeworth and he had magically fought four-on-one throughout his school years. He’s such a man’s man and like why would a man like that want to be with Lucius-freakin-Malfoy?
Anyway, in canon, Lucius married Narcissa right? Which means in canon he chose the Black daughter over Severus and that’s just… complete no no.
Also, Severus is a prodigy at potion and could make his own potions and spells even when he was still in school. Can Lucius do that? No. Severus needed someone who can talk to him about these things and get on his level intellectually.
More than that, Lucius is a politician isn’t he? Ew.
Instead of the common garden-variety Snucius, today I’ll raise you all: Grindlenape
So, you know how in canon a lot of people just kind of wronged Severus? The marauders? They bullied him for 7 years. Lily? She left him when he needed her the most. Voldemort? He lured Severus into his rank, but then can't even keep a promise to not kill one woman. Albus? He used his grieving 21-year-old heart to make Severus spy for him. Lucius? He's a PRISS and a POLITICIAN, absolutely-fucking-not.
You know who has never used or harmed Severus?
Gellert Grindlewald.
Gellert is a genius unlike any other. He can talk for days with Severus about magic and research with him. They can spend months trying to find evidence to argue about dark magic and bloodlines. Gellert can yawn as he turn the pages of a tome and Severus can come to him with a glass of coffee. Severus can fall asleep on the library couch and Gellert can cover him up with a blanket. Severus learning about pureblood ways and Gellert learning to appreciate muggle things.
More importantly, Gellert can guide Severus through learning dark magic in a way that Lucius really can't.
He's older, steadier, more mature. Even better than that, he had been beaten (by Dumbledore) before. Moreover, he was someone so powerful and smart and charismatic, but he had failed so badly in his attempt at world domination. It must've been a big blow to his pride, especially over the years he was imprisoned.
It would give him such a good dynamic with a young Severus Snape who was as smart, but way more insecure and would do a lot of things for more power for the sake of protecting himself.
Just the whole Gellert curbing Sev's reckless ambitions while Sev tries to inspire Gellert to make more innovations on magic makes me want to die.
They absolutely belong together. Reblog for support.
After much reflection I have decided that I loathe Severus Snape. Can’t stand him. Worst character ever. I am changing my blog name to @prongsmybeloved because James Potter deserves more attention than greasy lame ugly Snivelly Snivellus ever could!!! 🤮🤮
I don’t know how I could have ever loved Snape. I was in some kind of a fever dream. What planet was I on? I was wrong. The Marauders are the ones I love. 😍😍😍✨✨✨
James? Immaculate and unflawed. Peter? Loyal, always. Remus? Hello, hi werewolf hottie. I would marry you. Sirius Black? Yes my Pureblood son, reject your family’s Slytherin ways, you rebel icon. 😌😌😌🙏🏻🙏🏻
Slytherins = trash💀
Gryffindors = gold 😍✨
Fight me. Anti Snape for the win. Marauders Era. All the young dudes. All the boys. ♥️
