HEADCANONS
Born towards the beginning of May, a baby girl made her way out into the world to the shock of Danielle Morris and Jasper Lois, an engaged couple in Phoenix, Arizona. Due to Danielleโs own health problems, she had no idea she was pregnant so when she went to the hospital due to cramping, the pair were in for a shock when Danielle was told she was in labor. Even though Danielle and Jasper were engaged, they were in no capacity to bring a baby home and care for the child so they decided to put the little girl up for adoption and she fell into the laps of a sports agent and freelance musician, Spencer and Alistair Porter.
Sloane never went by Ella for long. She wasnโt sure when the time struck, but she had asked to be called Sloane when she was younger and it just stuck with her dads even agreeing that Sloane was a much better fit for her than Ella. Due to her fathers schedules and how often they had to travel either for Spencerโs meetings or Alistairโs gigs, Sloane was placed into homeschooling instead of public school and she got off lucky considering she at least had siblings to socialize with.
Moving around a lot never bothered Sloane, she enjoyed it but there was always a downside. She never got to make real friends through school and the ones she did make in whatever town she was living in at the time made things all that harder when the Porterโs inevitably had to pack up again. All Sloane longed for was a best friend that wasnโt her dads or one of her siblings, she wanted someone she could talk to for years on end and the connection would never have to end.
By the time Sloane had reached her teenage years, the Porterโs had settled into San Francisco and it was about the age that Sloane was able to legally get a job so it was no surprise that the socially deprived teen found a job at a local coffee shop the minute she got to town. It was fun and hectic as any first job, but she really just got to talk to customers and coworkers and that made everything better. Luckily, thatโs where the Porterโs would be stuck until Sloane graduated from high school. At that point there were talks to send her to public school, but she had already gotten so far in her program that it just felt insufficient.ย
When she graduated, Sloane had settled on going to Ohio State University which considering all the places sheโs lived, it seems odd sheโd choose such a place to attend but she really liked the campus and she had never lived in Ohio let alone barely visited besides when the Porter kids would visit their grandparents in Lima which was another reason to go. Sloane knew she wanted to go to school out of California, but in the case of an emergency she would have somewhere to go and Columbus was just a little while away from Lima.
Now as a junior, Sloane has been studying Elementary Education with an emphasis on English and she plays a big part in Ohio State Universityโs greek life. She always knew she wanted to join a sorority because it was like essentially having built in best friends and thatโs all she ever wanted. Sometimes Sloane can come off as a little too peppy or happy, but isnโt that what a Delta Zeta girl should be?

Courtlandโs first year in Ohio felt like it had gone by in a blink, but it was far from over. All things considered, sheโd done pretty well - things were running smoothly for her familyโs latest project, sheโd gathered a respectable amount of credits, and sheโd learned to talk to people entirely of her own accord. No twin in sight! It didnโt have to be for anything fancy either - although she still tended to rehearse most conversations in her head before they ever started. She had more goals though, ones that felt more personal. Making art with other people around helped her through high school; perhaps it could do the same through college?
She stood before a bulletin board, crowded with posters boasting various clubs and activities, with her own in hand. After painstakingly designing it herself, she thought it made a pretty good case for the club. The only problem was, she wasnโt sure if it was necessarily allowed there. This meant, of course, that sheโd have to ask. Oh boy. Taking a deep breath facing the board, she steeled her nerve, and then turned to the nearest bystander. โExcuse me?โ she began, with a nervous smile. โHiโ sorry to bother you, but do you know what the rules are about this thing?โ She asked, pointing to the bulletin board, and giving her poster a little wiggle. โCan anybody use it, or do I need some kind ofโฆ permission slip?โ Oh no. That sounded kind of stupid, in the seconds after she spoke it.
๐๏ธ
Sloane was always one who thrived in new environments. Thatโs what made it easier when her dads would pop up and announce that they were moving every six months or so, although she was never properly thrown into public school which was probably for the best. If she were the new kid every year, it probably would have turned her into an introvert and every now and again she was glad for her homeschooling experience. She had spent most of her day in the union building studying with a various amount of her sisters. That was something else she was super thankful for while she was in a new state. Sure, you could say Sloane was paying for friends, but at least it pushed her to have a group of girls to hang out with and it opened a door to plenty of new people to meet.
Deciding her brain had handled enough for the afternoon, she went to leave the building when she was stopped by someone.ย โYeah?โ She asked, moving closer to Courtland who she had known as the girl who would spend hours in Starbucks, drawing away. Sloane always thought she was sweet, but quiet. It was something she could get behind.ย โThat is a phenomenal question,โ a chuckle,ย โthat I donโt have an answer for,โ Sloane revealed, clicking her tongue.ย โIโd say itโs fine though. I canโt imagine youโd get into trouble if you did,โ she explained.ย โWhatโs it for?โ Sloane inquired, pointing towards her poster.
Talking about LJ was the easiest thing in the world to Dylan. Sheโd always been a girl defined by her relationships and while most people saw that as a drawback, her rose colored glasses kept her naive to those opinions.ย โOh my gosh, youโll totally meet her soon,โ Dyl promised, all bright eyed and rosy cheeked as she began to dish about her girlfriend,ย โand yes, her name is actually Lennon but she goes by LJ.โ All of this information probably didnโt matter to Sloane, but once Dylan got started talking about her relationship, it was hard to get her to stop.ย โThank you, itโs really all her. Sheโs the greatest,โ she said giddily, unable to hide her sappy smile at the thought of LJ. When Sloane lectured her about better study habits, Dylan dropped her head into her hands and let out a sigh.ย โUgh, I know,โ she groaned,ย โI always do this. Lemon has been trying to train it out of me since high school, but Iโm likeโฆa lost cause,โ she said with a should slump.ย โItโs for my Undoing Gender class,โ Dylan explained with another exasperated sigh,ย โitโs actually a really interesting class but likeโฆI just struggle with getting all of my reading done.โ Talking about school was boring and she knew Sloane of all people would exhaust all options to help, but that itโd probably be for nothing.ย โI wanna hear about you though,โ she said, perking up slightly,ย โhow are you holding up with the break-up and stuff? Are you doing okay?โย
๐๏ธ
Sloane was in awe with just how Dylan talked about LJ. To her, the two seemed stronger than ever and were pretty serious. Considering none of Sloaneโs relationships had never last more than 10 months, LJ and Dylan sounded just like a love story, even with the long distance.ย โThatโs such a cool name,โ Sloane gushed,ย โbut LJ totally fits her more... at least from what Iโve seen from photos,โ she tilted her head back and forth with a chuckle. As discussion moved to Dylanโs studying habits, Sloane couldnโt help but sigh. She was never surprised to hear that Dylan wasnโt doing well or was falling slightly behind.ย โI always forget you two went to high school together,โ she noted, shaking her head. Ohio did seem to be such a small state, especially since most of her classmates seemed to be from Lima, where her own dads were from. Youโd think theyโd have a huge population which how often she ran into people from there. At Dylanโs question, Sloane tensed up. She was fine after her breakup, but there would be no denying that she was a little upset.ย โIโm fine,โ she said with a simple shrug.ย โIt sucks, but like, being single is way more fun at parties,โ now that was the gospel truth. Looking down at her phone, Sloane noticed she had about t-minus two minutes before she had to clock in.ย โDamn, I gotta clock back in,โ she announced to Dyl as she pulled herself from her seat,ย โIโll talk to you later though, yeah?โ Who was she kidding? Theyโd probably see each other sometime within the next 24 hours so there was no worry about that.ย โAnd get that work done!โ She called out jokingly as she walked back to her station.
Hearing the footsteps on the pavement, Meadow sighed, her head tilting back against the outside wall with a sigh. She couldnโt tell who it was, not just by the footsteps, but she could make a guess.ย โYou know, I have 5 more minutes on this break, and not even god herself can make me go back to work before my break is up.โ She took a slow breath in of the night air, savoring it for all it was worth. Finally, fortified by the cool air in her lungs, she chanced a look to her new guest.ย โLabor unions fought for this, you know. Literallyโฆ this. Breaks. Kind of crazy, right?โ
๐๏ธ
Sloane never frequented Lima much. Her grandparents lived there so she would come down every few weeks, they would go to Breadstix, Sloane would stay over for the weekend, and come Sunday morning she would be back on her way to Columbus. It was a routine she had come to love, but every now and again, conversations with her grandparents seemed to drag on. A few bites into her pasta, Sloane excused herself to get some fresh air while her grandpa rambled on about some political nonsense that she didnโt agree with. Lurking outside, she stumbled upon another who seemed to have no problem striking up a conversation.ย โI get it,โ Sloane nodded.ย โIโm a full believer in using my whole 15 minutes at work,โ she loved her job and could probably go on without a break, but sometimes a gal needed to sit down.ย โI never think about labor unions often, but yeah, supes crazy,โ she agreed.ย โDoes it blow working at a place like this? I work in food... kinda, but I feel like Iโd hate working at a place where I actually had to serve food.โ
Dylanโs very quick and impulsive trip to Lima to visit LJ meant a few thingsโonce she finally got back on campus, she was sad, behind on her schoolwork, and seriously exhausted. It was no surprise that her first stop after dropping her things off in her dorm was the starbucks on campus. She needed coffee and she needed toย focus. This essay wasnโt going to write itself. As soon as she entered, she made her way over to the line and immediately brightened at the sight of Sloane.ย โHey lady,โ Dylan greeted as she approached the register, touched to find that her friend knew her order by heart,ย โyouโre saving my life. I need some brain fuel so badly.โ Dylan paid for her drink, took it from Sloane, and nodded enthusiastically at her sorority sisterโs request. Dylan absolutely needed to do homework, but she was not the type to say no to company. Once Sloane was at her side, the two girls made their way over to an empty table and got comfortable.ย โUgh, Iโm so tired today, you have no idea,โ Dylan complained, although her tone was dreamy,ย โI hitched a ride with Jenny to my hometown last night for the quickest trip ever. I wanted to surprise my girlfriend. But then I missed my classes this morning and now have to turn in an essay by 5pm that I havenโt started otherwise Iโll get ten points knocked off.โ She let out a long sigh after she got through her explanation but her genuine and easygoing smile remained in tact.ย โHow are you? How was your weekend and all that good stuff?โย
๐๏ธ
โOh my god, of course,โ Sloane replied at Dylanโs comments.ย โI mean, I literally wouldnโt be able to live if it werenโt for coffee. No lie,โ she said. As Sloane settled into her seat, she knew for a fact that she was probably going to hear that Dylan had skipped class, missed work, or both. Somehow, it seemed like the girl was always most talented at doing any of the following. It almost made her wonder how Dylan still managed to be in school, but hearing that Dylan had hitched a ride to visit her girlfriend, Sloane couldnโt help but have moon eyes at the story, instinctively placing both elbows on the table and putting both hands under her chin.ย โThat is so sweet, I really hope I get to meet your girlfriend one day, whatโs her name? LJ?โ Sloane asked for clarification, but then the following sentences came about how Dylan missed her morning classes and had an essay due in just a few mere hours.ย โYou guys are literally so sweet,โ she stuck her bottom lip out before returning to what was more important in her eyes.ย โI wonโt keep you long then, you need to get better about that kind of stuff,โ Sloane stated, talking about the essay.ย โWhat class is it for?โ She asked with a brow raise; the Porter was not someone who encouraged cheating or having extraย โhelpโ, but she would also do anything to watch her sisters graduate from college on time.ย โBecause Iโm sure someoneโs taken the class and can help with it.โ

WHO @crhqstartersโ and lj holliday.
WHEN friday/saturday, after midnight.
WHERE rosalitaโs roadhouse, lima.ย
lj didnโt know what the fuck a date dash was, but she did know how to have fun in a bar. dylan had hastily, and enthusiastically filled her in on the rules. no outsiders till after midnight, daisy dukes and diamond rings dress code, but most of all, dyl had pressed how excited sheโd be to see her there. it didnโt take getting to know lj to grasp the idea the being all ra ra, yay greek life wasnโt really her thing, but for her girlfriend? why the hell not. at half past midnight, lj moseyed on into the roadhouse, black cowboy hat on her head, and eyes slightly glossed over thanks to the joint sheโd just smoked in her car. at first glance, dylan was nowhere to be found, but lj highly doubted once her girlfriend spotted her, she wouldnโt make her way over. in the meantime, she settled at the bar and casually ordered herself a beer. gripping the bottle by itโs neck, lj sipped and turned to the person who had suddenly joined her side. at first glance, she couldnโt tell if they were a diamond, a daisy duke, or not trying at all so she asked,ย โwhat the fuck are you supposed to be?โ
๐๏ธ
The date dash was anything but smooth sailing for Sloane. Okay, she could have asked Brad from Sigma Chi, but she knew all it would mean would be a night of Brad talking about his glory days and trying to cop a feel which was exactly what Sloane was attempting to prevent. After going through her contacts, she decided to reach out to Bentley who was really nothing more than a body in Lima to Sloane, but it seemed like he had nothing else to do and he promptly agreed to be her date. Once he was allowed in, it didnโt take long for them to somehow get separated and instead of looking around for her date, Sloane opted to go by that bar and order herself a beer. Beer was certainly disgusting to her, but she wasnโt about to ask for vodka in a rodeo joint. Not noticing the girl beside her, Sloaneโs head whipped to the side at the otherโs question.ย โOh!โ She chuckled, looking down at her getup. She had attempted theย โdaisy dukeโ route knowing she didnโt have anything terribly glitzy or glamorous to wear, but with her shorts, pink bebe shirt, and pigtails she probably looked more like a toddler than anything else.ย โIโm a daisy duke,โ she clarified,ย โand Iโm assuming you are too?โ She pointed a finger at the all telling sign of LJโs cowboy hat. Something about LJ looked eerily familiar though. There was no way they knew each other, Sloane thought, but as she studied the girlโs face more clearly it dawned on her. Dylanโs Instagram. โWait,โ a pause as a smile started growing on her face.ย โYouโre Dylanโs girlfriend, arenโt you?โ Sloane asked.ย โIโve literally heard like so much about you! You two are super precious.โ
Working fueled Sloane in ways that most people probably couldnโt understand. Most people worked to live or because it was simply expected, but anyone who knew Sloane knew that her dads could easily afford her tuition, sorority fees, plane rides, and then some so it was always a wonder why Sloane worked at some Starbucks on her college campus and the reason was simple. Working was how she connected with people. Since childhood, Sloane was always such a chatterbox. Thatโs what made it so hard to be homeschooled. If someone was an introvert, it probably would have been fun but Sloane craved more social interactions than what was just her dads or siblings. So it was more than just money to her. She always enjoyed remembering the people that came by and what their orders were or suggesting new fun things to try with a giant smile on her face so when she saw Dylan walk in, she was already starting on the girlโs vanilla sweet cream cold brew in an instant.
Sloane liked Dylan. They were sorority sisters, after all, but Sloaneโs older nature and teacher self always came out more often when it came to girls like Jaz and Dylan. Frankly because Dylan never seemed to care much about school itself, which was fine. Most DZ girls were like that, even Sloane was like that, but Sloane didnโt think that her actions affected her other sisters priorities. Dylan, on the other hand, seemed to influence her sisters in the worst ways from Sloaneโs perspective. Once she finished making Dylanโs drink, she set it out.ย โWait for me, Iโm gonna take my break,โ she told Dylan before slipping her apron off and telling her manager she was taking fifteen. Moving out of the employee area she went over to stand by Dylan.ย โWhat is up, girl?โ She asked, moving towards one of the tables, sliding into the seat.ย โAre you done with classes for today?โ
Jordan was not the type of person to deal with his problems. In all honesty, he didnโt think he had any real problems. He had his bros and his life, and everything was good. Everything was chill. Things were better when they were easy. Which was one of the reasons why heโd started dating Sloane. Spending time with her was always easy. She was a DZ girl. And DZ girls were always fun. There was no two people more compatible than a Delta Zeta girl and a Sigma Chi guy, and in his opinion, he and Sloane had been a perfect match. Sure, they would go their separate ways at parties, but he would always make sure to find his way back to her by the end of the night. Everything seemed good to him, so when Sloane broke up with him and went radio silent over Spring Break, it had left him extremely confused.
Settling into his seat in the dining hall, he was determined to just focus on his boys and the plate of French fries that were currently in front of him. He wasnโt about to let his vibes get altered thinking about something that could bring down his mood. Unfortunately, his plan was thwarted when he heard the sound of his ex-girlfriendโs voice. He looked up and squinted his eyes at her, definitely surprised that sheโd decided to join their table. โHold on, Sloane. One second,โ he replied, putting his finger up between them. He reached into his pocket, pulled out his phone, and dialed a number before placing the phone up against his ear. He waited a few seconds before pointing to the buzzing phone sheโd placed on the table. โOh, so your phone does work? Thatโs interesting,โ he replied, before hanging up and putting his phone down. ย โSpring break was chill. Got dumped. Went snowboarding. What about you?โ
๐๏ธ
As much as Sloane liked to think she was put together, life always seemed to prove her wrong. Itโs not like she really thought the breakup through. Sure, there were issues in their relationship, but she could have brought up all of her issues with him instead of pretending like everything was fine until spring break. It was a stupid idea. How else was she supposed to become a teacher or be a normal, thriving adult if she couldnโt even have a mature conversation? The easy answer was that she couldnโt, but those could be more pressing matters for another time. Instead, she just had to survive lunch... and the next year.
When Jordan held his finger up to her, her lips faltered into a single line as she sucked in a breath. Itโs not like she deserved any sort of nicety from him, but she hoped for something a little less dramatic than him calling her phone. As quickly as her phone started buzzing, she scrambled to decline the call. Sloane was embarrassed to say the least. Not only because of Jordanโs current antics and demeanor, but she worried about anyone at the table noticing their exchange. Itโs not like people didnโt know. The deleted pictures. The lack of them spending time with each other. But Sloane had hoped to keep things as civil as possible.ย โIt was fine,โ she answered plainly, before leaning forward.ย โCan we like... not do this?โ She whispered, placing her arms on the table.ย โI know youโre pissed at me, but come on. Youโre not funny.โย

maya crawford wasnโt always the firstย person to show up to a party (sometimes pregames lasted longer than intended), but she was always one of the last to leave. after taking a frat lap or two around the sig chi house with dylan, maya had allowed herself to be pulled into the loud, dark basement with the promise of a brand new bottle of vodka. one day sheโd inevitably turn her nose up at cheap, flavored liquor, but today wasnโt that day. today she was jumping at the chance to secure the rights to a freshly tapped bottleโฆ and if that bottle was accompanied by a cute, flirtatious boy, then maya would decree it to be a pretty good night. somewhere between the first shot and saving her number in connorโs phone, maya had lost sight of dylan.. so when she heard her name being called out, her first instinct was that it belonged to her roommate. as she turned and came face to face with sloane, the grin on mayaโs mouth grew so wide it hurt.ย โsloane,โ she greeted back, hugging her friend around the waist.ย โokay but have you seen you? where have you been hiding this body?โ maya was always down to have a good time, but between sloaneโs breakup and the sudden urge for body shots, it was safe to say she was more than a little concerned.ย โi love you, butโย she paused, angling to get a better look at sloane.ย โmaybe we should go back to the dorms? order pizza and pop some advil so youโre not hugging the toilet tomorrow.โย
๐๏ธ
โClearly underneath all these clothes,โ Sloane stated, flinging her arms out as dramatically as she could. Now she would never say she was the party girl of Delta Zeta. As one of the upperclassmen she was typically the girl holding everyone elseโs hair back while she nursed a whiteclaw, but the days between her junior year and senior year were few and far between and if she knew her coursework load, she was going to have one hell of a senior year and that meant less parties or more Cโs and while she would never admit it, there was something about her recent breakup pulling her towards alcohol bottles.ย โPizza would hit so hard right now,โ the brunette commented, not fully taking in what Maya was saying. Deep down in Sloaneโs little core she knew the other was right, but maybe she needed to have her head hanging over the toilet come the end of the night or the morning after. But the idea of pizza? That was enough to keep Sloane away from beers and seltzers for the rest of her life. She wrapped her arms back around Maya and scrunched up her nose with a smile.ย โYou nursing me back to health is so cute,โ Sloane grinned, moving her arms to wrap around Mayaโs shoulder.ย โBy the way,โ she paused, tilting her head.ย โThis is so not about Jordan.โ
Sammy was doing a lot of running around, because he had a lot of deadlines - meetings -ย recordings - and photoshoots. He was doing the work of the college student and an full time artist. He swear he was so angry at his father for making him put his education first, because at the moment he didnโt care about trying to build his career in pharmaceutical sciences - all he wanted to do was sing, perform, and be on awards shows. But alas, he needed a plan B. He looked at Sloane as he made his way through the quad and chuckled at her softly.ย โMolecules to Medicine, today.โ He grumbled and looked at her with a sigh.ย โWhatโs got you soย โsleepy?โ
๐๏ธ
Sometimes Sloaneโs peers shocked her. She was only one person and the thought of tacking on anything more than what she already had on her todo list; school, work, a sorority, it sounded like an absolute hassle. At Sammyโs proclamation of what he was reading, Sloaneโs brows slacked trying to wrap her mind around what that would even detail. She hadnโt been exposed to much in her twenty years of life despite being from The Golden State itself. Between homeschooling and her fathersโ careers, all she ever knew was music, sports, and generic algebra. Maybe thatโs why she had settled on education as a major... those who canโt, teach, right?ย โItโs the way I canโt even decipher what molecules to medicine could even mean,โ Sloane remarked, a nervous smile on her face. The brunette wasnโt dumb by any means, but she was never an A-plus kid in college nor could she remotely wrap her head around anything STEM related.ย โUgh, unpacking, the sunshine, studying. All of it,โ she groaned, flipping over onto her stomach, resting a hand on her head.ย โIโm just so ready to get this semester over. My dads are going to Florida this year and three months on the beach? I need that,โ she explained, despite having just come back from Florida.
If there was one thing the Delta Zeta girls knew, it was how to party it up. Yeah, they were smart and philanthropic and whatever it is sorority girls were supposed to be, but at the end of the day no one joined a sorority to make a generous contribution to society, it was all to get wasted on weekends and wear cute t-shirts to let people know you were that bitch on campus. Sloane didnโt know how she would manage partying at Sigma Chi after her pre-spring break breakup, but it turned out that any kind of alcohol could aid that and theย โJโ word wasnโt even on her mind. โMaya!โ Sloane called out, finding her DZ sister.ย โYou look banginโ like what the fuck?โ She slurred out, wrapping her arm around Maya. By this point in the night Sloane had lost count of the amount of drinks she had leaving her cheeks flushed, her words slurred, and more F bombs dropping out of her mouth. Clearly teacher of the year.ย โWait donโt say anything,โ she shushed the girl, holding a finger up to her mouth to hear whatever song was playing.ย โWow, I love Ariana Grande,โ she blatantly said,ย โand I love you, bitch. Come on.โ
Beckoning Maya, Sloane grabbed a hold of her hand, pulling her over to where people were dancing, but she stopped in her tracks almost bumping into one of the Sigs.ย โWait,โ a pause as she turned to look at Maya with her mouth wide open to catch flies.ย โShould we like totally do body shots?โ
๐๐๐๐: Thursday, March 25th. Afternoon.
๐๐๐๐๐: OSU Quad.
The days in Columbus were getting brighter out so it was no surprise when Sloane found herself on the campus quad, lounging around, textbook in hand as she read about the content in her education class. Why did she have to be studying on such a pretty day? She could be hiking or hammocking or driving around with the windows down but instead she was just lying on her back, staring at words that were beginning to go fuzzy.ย โIโm about to tap out,โ Sloane announced, placing her textbook across her face.ย โIโm serious. I could fall asleep right here and not care about postmodernism in the education world,โ she said, removing the textbook from her face to look over at Sammy.ย โWhat subject is torturing you today?โ

WHO: @sloaneporterโย & kaden fabray
WHERE: the lima bean
WHEN: saturday, mar. 20th, afternoon
was it possible to be a tourist in your own town? if so, kaden felt exactly like one. he had somehow found himself at all of limaโs hotspots throughout the weekend from breadstix to the view, he had landed at them all. except for one, that is. the lima bean. there was something about it that he knew he couldnโt head back to new york, apparent home of espresso addicts, without stopping by. pushing open the door to the building, a bell sounding his arrival, he wasย surprised to see that it was somewhat busy. though, no crowd in lima would ever be worse than what he had seen in the big apple. he got in line nonetheless, and after some time finally heard his named called to grab his drink. taking a long sip, kaden contained the small grimace on his face.ย โyou know, i used to think this stuff was a lot better. do you think my palette has changed that much or have i just finally had better coffee now that iโve tried some outside of lima?โ he asked the person he had spotted next to him, turning to see who exactly it was. before, kaden would do this and usually find someone he knew from around their small town and it was fine, but as he turned, he realized this was not anyone he knew.ย โshit, sorry i- i thought you were someone i knew,โ he laughed somewhat sheepishly, the twinge of embarrassment biting at him.ย โmaybe we can change that. kaden fabray,โ he introduced himself, moving his cup of coffee between hands so that he could offer the other to her to shake.
๐๏ธ
Sloane didnโt frequent Lima very much. It was a cute little town but compared to Columbus there wasnโt a whole lot to do, but some of the DZโs were from Lima and her grandparents were there so every blue moon or so sheโd wind up in the town and more often than not sheโd find herself at the Lima Bean once or twice throughout the day. The plan was to go back to Columbus tonight so she spent her day learning all the nifty places Lima had to offer which as suspected wasnโt much. She went to thrift stores, checked out the mall, and even found herself at the coffee shop itself looking for a much needed cold brew. Waiting for her drink, someone next to her began talking to her which caused a bit of surprise to her but perhaps it was just a small town thing. She turned her head to face the voice and was pleasantly stunned by an attractive college age guy talking to her, thanking whoever it was above that he wasnโt some middle aged weirdo.ย โAre you sure you donโt know me?โ She asked jokingly before letting out a laugh.ย โBut itโs cool, seriously. And youโre absolutely right, the coffeeโs shit. I could see why anyone would think this is like the epitome of taste though if itโs all you knew,โ she rambled. To be honest, it wasnโt awful but compared to other coffee shops? It didnโt hold up outside of Lima. Hearing her name be called, she reached over to the counter to grab her drink, swirling the foam at the top.ย โI work at Starbucks and I mean, that shit is pretty shit too but I think this place cuts it close. The only time Iโve had good coffee here is when that uh, cute little blonde makes it,โ a pause.ย โIโm sorry, Iโm really just spewing off nonsense. Sloane,โ she said, shaking his hand. Holding on for a moment longer as she processed his name, she furrowed her eyebrows.ย โFabray,โ she repeated, letting go of his hand.ย โWhy do I feel like Iโve definitely heard that name before.โ
Sloane was never one to face her situations head on. She was a girl who preferred to keep everything under wraps and constantly avoided losing potential friendships or making people mad. It was why she didnโt date much and it raised an even bigger question mark as to why she would date Jordan Cohen. It wasnโt that she didnโt like him or didnโt care about him, but it was heavily unspoken that frat bros and sorority girls just shouldnโt date, especially when it was Sigma Chi and Delta Zeta. Hook up all you want, but relationships? Big no. But Jordan was nice! And they just got along. Sometimes life just happened that way, but then it got to a point where it was no longer fun.
Nights of Sloane being left on the sidelines so Jordan could go hype up bros or do body shots left Sloane feeling alone and in the dumps. Even downing a glass of Titoโs and Fresca couldnโt give her a fun night so surprisingly, she was the one who called it quits just a mere couple of days before her plane for Florida left. Florida gave her a week to reflect and mourn the loss of a relationship, but it didnโt prepare her for when sheโd be back on campus. She spent most of her day avoiding most Sigma Chiโs in fear Jordan would be lurking with them and went to her classes, hung out with fellow DZโs, and eventually ended up grabbing lunch with a couple of her sisters. In an unfortunate and cursed strain of events, Sloane went over to one of the lunch tables that were a hot spot for fellow Sig and DZโs alike and there were three seats, only available around Jordan. She could have turned around and ate somewhere else, possibly the bathroom. That would save her the embarrassment, but Sloane wasnโt Sloane if it werenโt for acting like problems didnโt exist. Sitting down in front of Jordan, she grabbed her utensil and plucked her fork into a piece of spinach.ย โHey,โ she awkwardly said.ย โHow was spring break?โ God, could she get any more pathetic?
