A little perspective from someone who's been here, on and off, since 2005:
When GW2 was announced, there were a significant number of people who said no way, I'm not playing it, I don't want an open world MMORPG that looks like all the other ones, that's why I play Guild Wars!
And in the fullness of time, a lot of those people changed their mind because once it was actually here GW2 looked pretty fun, and at some point it went on sale, and they thought ah what the hell I'll give it a go.
(GW3 is probably not coming out until 2028. There is so much time. You don't have to decide anything now)
But plenty of people didn't change their mind! Plenty of them kept playing Guild Wars for years, because that's the game they liked and they had a community there. Even without ongoing updates they stayed - and they could, because even without ongoing updates ArenaNet maintained the game that existed.
(The game isn't going away, even when GW3 is here. 'Depopulated' doesn't mean ghost town, if there's one server worth of players in the world you'll be fine)
And now we have the evidence of Guild Wars Reforged in front of us. The players never abandoned it, and the devs never forgot it, and now it's getting a revival because both players and devs still had love in their hearts for it. 20 years later!
Guild Wars 2 is not so frail as some of you fear. ArenaNet have made clear their intention to keep it around, and we have no reason to doubt that looking at GW1.
And if the future of GW2 has to be sustainable play of content that exists rather than constantly selling you new things... that's probably good, actually.

one of the many things I'm excited about re gw3 is the nature of it being a prequel and all the free extra depth that comes from that.
you're a vaelwarden, a protector of the people and spirits of orr. all the good your vaelwarden does, all the happy things that happen to them are going to be underpinned by these bittersweet, tragic feelings of "but in the end it was all for nothing". and maybe some people dont like that, but I think getting to see orr have it's fleeting time on tyria is like. awesome. maybe the vaelwarden will love orr and put their entire soul into caring for it all. and one day it'll all come crashing down and sink to the bottom of the ocean.
I could go on about how that the temporary nature of all that good ultimately not meaning much is very. life. that's life. and it still matters even if it all vanished. it matters because it vanished. but then its also what happens in gw2 that gives it so much meaning to me.
sure, everything your vaelwarden achieves is temporary, maybe nothing much in the grand scheme of things. but like 1300+ years into the future after everything you worked for was destroyed, someone who has never known you and your story will come along and be so dedicated to reviving the land that you loved and making it something new and cared for once again. some guy, part of a race you could have never conceived of, will rally the collective effort of the world for the sake of removing the rot and filth from this ruin that was so long forgotten. that legacy will encourage a whole new generation of adventurous spirits to flock to this place because they see hope and potential in what it could become with some care. they carry on your work in a new way.
the will of determined people echoing throughout the centuries. an unseen line between then and now.
thats just so awesome to me.
They'd probably clonk and clatter terribly attempting to kiss/touch each other ;) Occassional sparring between them is a rare treat for Baelor. But the man still fits into his old armor and looks forward to dust off the hammer once in a while. Would Dunk let him win on purpose? I don't think so. But he surely is very distracted by his bae ;) (As always: stuff goes on Patreon first, later you can see the nsfw stuff on my Bluesky and the SFW goes here). The uncropped version? -> can be found here

i play a lot of asura but otherwise not many diminutive characters so the whole odd vibe around lalafell was unexpected. i think they should be allowed to bite people.
