As much as DC fucked over midnighter, they fucked over Apollo 100x worse. They gave him a complete personality change, seemingly to make him and midnighter conform more to the sunshine x grumpy trope, erasing the less happy aspects of Apollo’s personality (there was a tiny bit of this midnighter vol. 1, with apollos being portrayed as happier and calmer, but not nearly to the same extent, and it seemed more like an exploration of Apollo moving on from his past vs. midnighter obsessing over his, but that could be a whole other post) . In Midnighter and Apollo and DC Pride 2025, Apollo tries to convince midnighter to kill less and/or acts like he has a problem with Midnighter’s violence.
