Unite for Literacy provides free digital access to picture books, narrated in many languages. Literacy is at the core of a healthy community, so we unite with partners to enable all families to read with their young children.
This would be a great resource to give to parents!
Ask five people two questions.
This is an interesting little read. I work with a lot of educators and have noticed some trends in meetings with administrators, other staff members, parents. Certain behaviours come across as uncertain or are uncomfortable as a listener. Things like a frequent glottal fry, rubbing and grasping your own hands together in front of you as you speak, trailing off multiple times during the same sentence, frowning while speaking, lack of eye contact with the person you’re presenting information to, etc.
A list of some games on the market that target various executive functioning skills for different ages.
I don’t think this is a new or particularly surprising result. My anxiety & depression definitely kicked up a notch after starting grad school.
Always good to have that proof though
Absolutely! It's good to see that some schools out there are starting to take it seriously and providing more resources. With my cohort, fellow students were great at encouraging each other to get counseling/medication/help.

This revised handout explains the importance of analogical reasoning skills and offers suggestions for teaching the hierarchy of analogical problem-solving sub-components to language impaired children. It lists the “Language Processing Hierarchy Pertaining to Critical Thinking” (Richard, 2001) as well as lists several FREE problem-solving apps and worksheets. References are provided.

Some ideas and video suggestions for how to use wordless videos to work on inference skills in therapy.
I still get this question a lot - particularly when talking about young, pre-verbal learners. AAC is not a crutch. Beginning AAC does not mean you are giving up on verbal speech. Here’s a post I’ve...
The research article she cites is also authored by a former professor of mine. AAC is amazing!
From the FB post by Rachael Langley:
Using AAC as a strategy to support communication and language development does not mean you're waving the white flag on oral speech development.
Yes, some people will forever rely on AAC. For them, it's "alternative" not augmentative. But for many young kiddos, they need a visual means to support their communication NOW. They need to augment their communication while they learn the power of language.
That's what AAC does for so many. Lots of kids continue to supplement their speech with AAC after speech begins to develop. But remember this: AAC does not interfere with speech development.

I might be able to paint, but I’m never a good crafter. I spent all day yesterday carving, but I forgot it was inversed…😂 And can someone tell me how they make those super thin lines?? My lines are too fat!!
