Anyway Fuji is great! In a story full of very good characters he manages to stand out as one of the most memorable and the favorite of a lot of people (there are many other iconic stone eaters in this manga but are they in this tournament? no, because we all independently and unprompted campaigned for fuji). The war between his people and the humans might be technically over, but the colonization is absolutely not, and that's something he's intimately familiar with from a very young age, which radicalized him quite understandably. And as an adult he took in / is teaching / kinda adopted a young girl who had the same, but even worse, traumatic experience. He's fighting back against the occupation and abuse by humans (through violent means, yes, but it's justified), he's inspiring others to do the same, he's inspiring humans to stand up against years, decades, generations of peer and family pressure. His actions, both direct and indirect, are what finally triggers the liberation of his people and allows the situation to move in the right direction. He hides his true objectives to his enemies! He hides his real powers! He knows the importance of symbols and strong actions in politics! He's technically an antagonist but he doesn't feel like one because he's right, and the protagonists know that, they might not agree with his methods but they agree that his fight is right and they want the same thing as him.
