I don’t study genocides war crimes and human rights for fun. I study it bc my people have been at the foot from the very first genocide of the 20th century and previous attempts to exterminate my entire race. The fact that no one is speaking up when another genocide is at the brink of occurring to the ethnic Armenians living in Artsakh (Nagorno Karabakh) is mind blowing. I have to say I’m not surprised by the lack of effort - Americans, especially, are the most self interested humans I’ve met. This isn’t about narrative, this is about rapid belligerent individualism. We can philosophize all day about it but at the end - people don’t give a shit about anyone but themselves. There is rarely any altruism left in this world. As Monte said, no ones gonna fight for us, we will have to fight on our own to survive. The alternative is not an option.

SO what started as a joke ended up being something a little more complex? Mareen can’t read tarot or understand how it works. Instead, Mareen is used more like a mouthpiece for the Arcana and they channel their messages through her. A sort of limited form of possession thanks to rules and realm boundaries: she never takes power from them, and they can’t fully take advantage of her. it’s just a fleshy intercom wheeeze

HERE IT IS!!! after 3ish years in the making, good lord. A retelling of the very first Prologue interaction as i pictured it (canon compliant for the most part, RIP pre-2019 prologue) with a glimpse more into Mareen and how she who cant read tarot for shit makes due ;> since it IS a project i picked up again on and off for 3 years, expect some style and art shifts yuy; (backgrounds from in game)

I think scars are really cool!! Even if you don’t get them in epic ways they’re just really neat and I was thinking about what types of scars Muriel would have.  Content warning for injuries, scars, etc?  No self harm scars tho!

Busted nose several times.  It bends subtly to the right and the bridge has that little flattened spot 

Knuckles are a Mess.  He’s reset his own fingers many times so when he makes a fist the line of his knuckles is a little unnaturally jagged in some places and flatter than picture perfect in others.  They make particularly awful sounds when he cracks them.

Not only are his bones hairline fractured and inexpertly reset a few times over, but the skin on his knuckles and the backs of his hands are particularly scarred up.

Of everything scar-related, he’s most self conscious of his hands.  They’re the roughest-looking part of him and, to him, that’s saying something especially given his neck and wrists.  

They’re weathered and calloused but also bear blade scars and other violent marks from coliseum days, even his palms.  Also factor in his guilt and the concept of “bloodstained hands” and its easy to see why Muriel’s trained himself not to look at them if he can help it.

The scar on his cheekbone was done with a blade and was deep enough enough to warrant stitches that he didn’t get.  Because the wound went untreated it healed up really jaggedly.

That forehead scar goes up into his hair a little bit.  I know a lot of people use his Prologue CG to support the idea that he got it during the Lucio encounter in Book VI but I’m not sure I’m going to adhere to that.  Its a big ass cut and I like the idea of the MC’s proper attention minimizing the permanent marking.  That thing’s huge and super jagged so I’m leaning towards another Coliseum scar and the CG not having it is just an art thing.

Haven’t seen a fullbody Scourge sprite yet but if he had any part of his legs regularly exposed those bear a lot of blade scars too.

He wore that collar + fetters for a MINIMUM of 10+ years so the skin underneath that is mega-fucked up.  His neck is ringed with thick, pale abrasion marks.  Its highly visible and makes him incredibly self conscious- almost more than the chains themselves did.

Thick bands of pale scar tissue circle around his wrists too.  They’re not clean lines like blade scars either, they’re patchy and rough and don’t match the rest of his skin tone.

I imagine that he may also have a scars on one or both of his ankles from similar bonds.  They’re just not as bad because they’re 1) easy to cover and 2) he didn’t wear them as long.

His bare back is a mess of weapon scars and two obvious blast marks from arcane projectiles. (And his bargain-mark)

He does have some scars that he’s not ashamed of!!

One time he rescued a youngish mountain lion from a poacher’s bear trap! and in the confusion and perceived threat he got an entire mouthful of teeth clamped down around his left forearm and four very clear claw tracks down the outside of his bicep.

Because of Mauve’s knack for baking, I thought it would be pretty fitting if she was the Home Ec teacher! She teachers her students all about cooking, sewing, gardening, budgeting, cleaning, taking care of family, etc etc. The whole deal! She makes it a lot of fun, of course! 🥺💖✨
