putting my graphic design degree to work lsajkhdf IT'S A LOT BUT LOREM HAS BEEN IN THE WORKS SINCE OCTOBER OUGH.

Lorem (They/she) is the personification of Lorem Ipsum or 'Dummy Text', placeholder text used often in design (print, web, and publishing). Mostly to see how text fix in a space and or showcase fonts. It's often left in behind the scenes or replaced with proper text in final presentation (unless you got a very lazy or overworked designer wheeze).

With this in mind! Lorem is like a design assistant who is constantly hard at work making sure things look professional / to their client's liking, but always in the background. Not quite seen, DEFINITELY never heard unless spoken to.

They were (conceptionally and plot wise) originally an Addison but definitely showed signs of failing at their purpose much like Spamton. Picture the art kid that got into graphic design/marketing when that is 500% NOT what they wanted to do. They have good visuals and some marketing luck but when it came to closing sales it just was never consistant (poor presentation execution, pitch was weak, low volume, etc).

Lorem eventually pivoted careers from sales to just strictly design and settled for a smaller and less front facing purpose. It's still kinda not what they wanted/soul sucking work but better than nothing.

Lorem's story intertwines with Spamton and Tenna (i'm having fun idc idc idc idc id--). Lorem was one of the rare few that would talk to Spamton back in his addison days (and let him be an on and off on again roomate -gasp-), they encouraged eachother during tough times. Eventually, Spamton made it big and that was an inspiration boost for Lorem to keep pursuing their goals. They join Tenna and TV world a bit towards the end of the big shot era, after coming highly reccommended by Spamton. Tenna and Lorem click, mostly due to the fact that Lorem enjoys the bright, funky, and loud aesthetic around TV Time and doesnt tell Tenna to 'tone it down'. Like Tenna, they took Spamton disappearing very hard but they were more lucid/melancholy about it vs Tenna's crashout (considering Lorem isn't from TV world and can go back to Cyber World?) but hurt regardless still.

From here the plot is more murky, im not sure if i want them to go back to cyber world and actually know spamton's fate? or be left in tv world as a secret secret mini boss in the Z room backrooms wheeze. *shrug* i just like my toys....thank...

Design bits:

They DO lose saturation as the years go on/she is fully settled in her career as a designer.

Post career, they take on more aspects from design programs (picture adobe illustrator/photoshop and word)

so her belt buckle is a text cursor indicator,

the seam of their pants are the marquee tool when you go to select things in photo editing

Their cowlick is actually the different modes of the select cursor in adobe programs! it's just a tell sign of when Lorem is being (white cursor) professional/masking and when they are being honest with their emotions/mask slipping (black cursor)

THIS SONG WAS ONE OF THE MOST I WANTED TO DO. CUZ OK WAIT....THERES SOME META GOING ON HERE.

First its so fckn romantic, gushy, sweet, and just utter declaration of love for each other. Tenna's line of 'Suddenly I'm holding the world in my arms' LIKE YEAH THATS YOUR WORLD!!! THAT WHOLE LIL GUY!!! and while i didnt draw it just thinking of Tenna singing the stanzas before this

LIKE ITS SO HIM. LIKE the idea that Spamton is too precious or so bewilderingly out of his league to hold him in his arms. Its like Tenna saying/admitting that he's so unworthy of holding him. THE 'ITS LIKE I'VE KNOWN YOU ALL ALONG' LINES THO? AND THE ONES THAT FOLLOW?

I....am going to go very meta/lamely multiverse here and say that its exactly that. '...You're someone I have always known'. I SO BADLY wanted to draw like all the different aus that have come out in just UNDER A YEAR of these two where they are destined in every universe to meet. Please see my vision: 'I knew you before we met' Tenna sees Spamton for the first time in this AU and falls HARD but can't help but FEEL the impact of many versions of him have crossed his path before once upon a time and never, all at once. like whirl winds of Bigshot spam, trash heap undertale husband, a human version--many many MANY forms this object of his affection. Then, it settles back to the one in front of him 'and i don't even know you yet' and he builds the courage to approach him; like a love song on repeat, it's sung again.

*blows a kiss to the fandom* for the Carol / Toriel and yuri fans~

I 500% wanted Toriel to be Persephone hands. down. It's perfect because who else does Tenna consider a friend but also regards and places someone high enough as a god than Toriel? i so, so, SO BADLY wanted to make Asgore work as Hades (tenna trying so hard to fix their relationship, beheld their love as his world, etc) but he just could NOT fit the idea or character.

I mean i was this 🤏 close on just brute forcing it, but my idea of Asgore is still stuck with Undertale Asgore (a king with presence through the whole game but turns out to be a softie, still intimidating and powerful) buuuuut considering people like to overlap and especially make Deltarune Asgore the butt of a lot of jokes (not to mention we don't REALLY know much of him yet CMOOOON CH.5) so he just wasn't working.

OK OK i've had this on my noggin for a while and if you are unfamiliar with Hadestown PLEASE listen to the musical. i cannot reccommend it enough and it deserves your undivided attention and divorced (haha) from fandom influences.

For this AU everything pretty much plays out the same as the musical. I am just playing with toys and inserted Tenna and Spamton as the roles of Orpheus and Eurydice because they fit so well 😭 these are some of the earliest doodles i had done between commission work and other stuff because AAAAA i'm glad i'm not the only one that sees the vision (bless y'all in the TMC discord your minds a beautiful and phenominal *5000 chef kisses*)

I was stuck for the longest on roles besides the main couple but after some thinking and tweaking i think i got a decent role assignment:

Tenna as Oprheus

Spamton as Eurydice

Gerson as Hermes

Toriel as Persephone

Carol as Hades
