Alexandria found the diary of her mother, Elizabeth Mortem, one of the most powerful witches in Dunwall. In that diary, there were so many secrets that the abbey couldn't uncover; they weren't prepared for them.

Alexandria had only two loyal friends in the entire city, one of them Ruby Rogue, courtesan of the Golden Cat and protected of Slackjaw. Alex asked her to hide the diary.

She knew they would never suspect a courtesy extended to the Golden Cat, therefore no one would know she had it. And that it didn't exist

The outsider disagreed, for although he was ambiguous with Ruby, he did not like the idea of her confiding something of that magnitude to her mortal friend.
