I promised myself agessss ago to comb through all the Duke-centric fics ever but that turned out to be too much for my tiny brain so instead!!! I'm going to highlight a few Duke-centric fics that I personally adore. I tried find people's tumblr but if I got any wrong feel free to let me know!! This was the impetus for this post because it JUST finished!!! I recced this before but it explores Duke and mental health in such an amazing way. You won't be dry-eyed by the time you get to the end, and you will be all the better for it ❤️❤️❤️. Read Chapter 6 for some REALLY GOOD Bruce-Dukisms ❤️❤️❤️❤️

A short & wonderful fic set during Batman & The Outsiders, exploring the moment when Duke gets his shadow powers. The writing is incredible in this one, and there are so many lovely canon references!!! Bonus points for featuring Cassie Cain!!!!

Trans Duke comes out to Elaine!!! This fic made me cry it's so incredibly sweet 😭😭😭. They really are the mother-son duo of all time!!! The last line hits hard like this only takes a few minutes to read but I promise it is SO worth it!!!

It's quiet, moving, and has beautiful references to canon. The best thing that will ever come out of those terrible Duke fanon posts!!!

From the patron saint of Duke nation comes an absolutely wonderful fic chronicling Duke's experiences with family. Both sections (with the Thomas family and with WAR) are sooo amazing it makes me tear up just thinking about it 😭😭 A masterclass in every way, this is Duke to his core it's so so so good everyone READ!!!!!

A wonderful DukeBao fic that explores Duke & Bao's relationship with all its ups and downs. The character interactions are pitch perfect and Duke is soooo full of personality here, I just love him so much!!!!! Duke and Bao are the most precious duo ever!!

Not technically Duke-centric but it's an All-Star Batman fic featuring Bruce, Duke, and Harvey after Duke gets injured in. Just fantastic fantastic stuff, Bruce-Duke-Harvey is forever an underrated beautiful trio and this fic proves that!!!!!

There is no way to describe this fic that will do it justice. A searing character study that examines Duke's experiences being a Black hero in the Batfam, it is an absolute masterpiece of a fic and one that really should be required reading!!!

Hi! Sorry for late response. I do have some headcanons for my boy but my favorite one is that his favorite film director is Guillermo del Toro. Something about his films reminds me of Duke idk. Also thank you for calling me the goat I'm blushing rn.

My another headcanon that I really like is Duke at some point being able to solidify his light powers and making a lightsaber. Imagine that! Duke with a lightsaber!

Also thank you for the kind words. I just love writing Duke in his constantly conflicted state. I strongly believe Signal should be a bright beacon of hope for Gotham. But it really hits different when he's an insecure, guilt-ridden hero in a shiny golden suit.
