In the book Ponyboy tells us that Dally “died violent and young and desperate, just like we all knew he'd die someday.” But I feel like if you actually listen to that line and recognize its importance and don’t ignore it - if I were to say yes, realistically even if Dally had survived that night he still would have gotten killed in a similar way sooner or later but not that much later, that he was on a trajectory that wouldn’t have changed if Johnny had lived or whatever happened with the gang, that even if it did the system would never stop coming after him - that constitutes an Unpopular Opinion.

It's weird seeing characters named Randy because my dad is named Randy

Barnes is an example of war making monsters changing people

Bunny is an example of war bringing out monsters instead of making them

Chris is the representation of the average person seeing war like both sides
