Reclaimed material details from the luggage packer. The random seams, grommets and stitch holes proudly show that this material is on it's second life.Â
The canvas like material was once a cover for an office copier, the mesh was from a second hand store, even the red trim was from scrap from a school project and the red webbing was scrap from REI Ann Arbor.Â

Simple-Basic Moto Bag - Field Test Prototype. 9/8/2014
Reclaimed army tent fabric. New old stock olive drab waxed canvas.Â
Tote bag design sketch of front components.Â
Tail Holder for the T.A.D. Lightspeed and EDC packs. These doo-dads hold the tail up, add a bit of reflectivity and are made out of majority reclaimed materials, 1.5" webbing from an old sailor, reflective vinyl from a discarded men working sign, new velcro, and thread. This accessory keeps the bag operating more smoothly by keeping the tail in place when un-clipped, and keeps the bag more tidy even when it is. I've never taken mine off.Â
Soon to be for sale in the "specialty accessories" section @ simple-basic.com.

Making velcro reflector patches out of a "Men at Work" sign that I found one rainy night on a gravel street in Red Hook. It was being ground into the gravel by 18 wheelers and it was a sopping muddy mess when I shoved it into my Mission Workshop Rambler, holding back a smile. After a few washings in the shower and drying in the hallway it was finally clean enough to bring inside and begin cutting up.Â
I'm real excited about experimenting more with this recycled reflective material. I already use a couple patches daily on my commute. Check some out here...http://simple-basic.com/specialty-acc/
