Okay, so number one, Vancouver’s Rescue Center has the absolute cutest Baby Sea Otter and I am already so in love and kind of want to take the Sea Otter home, but can’t for obvious reasons. Number two, if you could be any Sea Animal, what would you want to be? I feel like I would want to be a Dolphin, they are so playful and adorable. 

I think you should steal it anyway. I’ll help you if you need it. I’d like to be something cool like a shark, or something. But if we’re being honest, I’m more like a sea cucumber, literally pointless. 

I got approached by a kid out on the trails in Vancouver today, who was so excited and said he couldn’t believe he was meeting a real life superhero. Sometimes it’s so crazy to me that to some kids out there, that’s what I am. Even if I don’t feel like it, and I know it’s just my day job and I’m playing dress up for a living. It’s still a pretty awesome feeling to watch a kid’s face completely light up in awe, and know it’s because of you. Anyone else had an experience with a fan like that? It really makes you love your job even more than you already did.

It’s a bit inspiring, huh? I get inspired when I see you guys in the streets, and I’m an adult. I can’t imagine what it’s like for these children who still aren’t sure whether movies are reality or not. It’s pretty cool.

Now if we’re talking Brazil, then I know all of the best places to go. My family’s from there, so I got you.

So it’s set. That’ll be where we have our first adventure!

I’m not even going to make fun of you for that because Coraline was the most creepiest movie I had ever seen at one point. It still might be. I can’t remember the last time I actively decided to watch it so who knows how I feel now. The button eyed Mom is a literal nightmare. I still can’t believe that it was a kids movie. In that case, I will! I’ll come over to greet your house full of ghosts. We’ll all get on really well, I’m sure. You, me and the ghosts will be BFFs before you know it. 

I’m glad that you say that, because everyone else I’ve told has literally laughed in my face. I might’ve hid behind my couch during the entire ending. Yeah, it’s been a while since I’ve seen it. Everyone’s trying to get me to watch it again, but I just don’t think I could handle that. Perhaps when you come over, we’ll have to try. So long as we have each other, we won’t get freaked out as badly. That’s how it works, right? I bet you guys will., I’m pretty psyched myself. 

It is quite different and at the same time similar… you’d be surprised of how similar it can be at some aspects. One big difference is you can’t leave them alone while you go shopping or leave them at your parents if you are on holidays… specially not on the first few months.  I like your thinking, I’m Ashley.

That sounds like something I couldn’t handle. At least not right now. I’m still not entirely sure how to take care of myself yet, so. It’s lovely to meet you, Ashley. I’m Avan. 

It’s a film, yeah. I started writing it seven years ago, actually and it’s finally out there for everybody to see. Bit mind-blowing. And you’re absolutely right. Criticism will come from all sides, no matter what. You can’t please everybody which is hard for a people pleaser like myself to grasp. Luckily, I’ve heard good things so far and I have a screening tonight with fans so I’ll get that feedback face to face. I’m excited and nervous.

7 years? That’s a crazy amount of time to be working on something. Normally, I give up within a week, unless someone is pushing me. You must’ve wanted to give up so many times. Props to that at least. That’s good. The good feedback is nice and all. But from my personal experience, the negative is what makes me better and whatever I’m doing. I’m sure you’ve learned that too, though. That sounds exciting. I can’t wait to hear more about it. 

Nope, July 1st, Canada Day. 

Oh, well that one’s my day. Since I can have a say, I say don’t feel weird about it.
