As of last week we have finally got my parents to switch over to having the groceries delivered rather than collecting them from the supermarket. This actually only happened because it turned out that my father has an abdominal hernia he didnât tell anyone about which flared up the Saturday before last resulting in a call to 111 in the middle of the night and a trip to A&E when our doctors surgery wouldnât give him an appointment. Heâs OK (hopefully being put on a waiting list for surgery) but as sis is working and Iâve been mostly out of action for best part of the last three months heâs been having to do the shopping on his own, something he couldnât manage last week so we suggested getting a delivery and after resisting the idea for so long they now realise how much easier it is!

Nils Brahe´s Spanish court dress (Mid-17th Century) This velvet suit, owned by Nils Nilsson Brahe (1633-1699), consists of a pair of breeches, a doublet, a short gown with hanging sleeves and a cloak. It also includes several accessoires, like a pair of stockings, linen cuffs, a rapier with matching dagger and a Spanish style "golilla" collar. It´s extremely rare for such a complete 17th Century suit to survive that long - in most cases, only the main parts (like doublet and breeches) survived, while most minor pieces were sold, stolen or destroyed over time.

Spring or An Allegory of Spring (1904) by Sir John Lavery (Irish, 1856 â 1941), oil on canvas, 1.91 x 1.23 m (approx. 75 x 48 in), MusĂŠe d'Orsay, Paris
Listened to 2/3 of Planet Krynoid: Survivors.
I do think it was a mistake for us to see the end of the Doctorâs involvement before the beginning as it removed any jeopardy with regards to his being stung by the krynoid pod when we already knew heâd sort it quite easily. The sting itself was also a bit of a dropped ball as more could have been done with his being infected; given he just makes a guest appearance here it seemed more like an incidental occurrence than anything really important (Iâm sure Paul enjoyed playing it though; he usually likes being given an opportunity to make a few tormented noises).
Iâm not wholly sold on having the Doctor appear in these other series. I think Iâd rather either have them completely separate, or with the Doctor more involved in the story, but thatâs just me.
I've personally always hated the idea of a 'showrunner' as it puts too much power in one person's hands. Now would be a good time to return to having a producer who is not head writer, or even a writer at all, and a script editor capable of reigning in ridiculous excesses. There needs to be someone who can say no.
I was reminded of this the other day and all I could think of was Eight.
