I think people need to stop focusing on the casting and just appreciate or criticise the show for it's writing/plot/acting/ANYTHING ELSE for once.

and even though the novel is often read as a universal commentary on human nature, its symbolic descent into “savagery” is not abstract. it instead mirrors a specifically western conception of “primitiveness,” one that has long been imposed upon black and indigenous people. this is reinforced by the way even the so-called “civilised” characters use racialised language, like piggy using slurs to associate moral decline with non-white/european identities. as a result, the boys’ fall from order is not simply a loss of societal structure, but a movement into a culturally loaded idea of the “savage” is an exaggerated reflection of how british colonial ideology historically depicted people of colour as living “backwards” and forced them to assimilate in violent ways that stripped them of all cultural identity

Looking at other essays on this subject matter was also so interesting and I wish people acknowledged it more.
