Kinda stupid question but can’t find the answer anywhere. I’m getting a long wavy wig today. I’m definitely gonna detangle it and stuff and spray some dry shampoo on it but can you crimp wavy wigs? Or would it be better to just not crimp it or anything. Idk how this works 😭😭 does anyone have any tips?
Hello there!
Typically, wigs come already detangled, so you don't have to do much there if it's new. If it's a used wig, you may have to detangle it. Use a wide-toothed comb, a wig brush, or a Tangle Teezer, and work slowly from the bottom up.
Dry shampoo isn't really needed on synthetic wigs unless you are trying to tone down shine. If you're trying to prevent tangling, I would use Mane N Tail detangler spray, since it has a little bit of silicone in it.
Crimping reaaaaaaally depends. What are you doing with the wig? That will determine if you should crimp or not.
If you want to add volume or reduce shine, or if you are looking to do heavier styling, crimping can help. Look up "no show crimping" if you are looking to do this.
If you want to reduce tangles, you can also lightly crimp, or just crimp the underlayers.
If you want to wear it long and loose, you don't need to crimp. It's purely optional, and should typically be done if you want the effect of crimping.
As for whether it will deep the waves intact, it won't. It might somewhat keep them? But any sort of heat styling will interfere with the existing heat styling (the waves). If you do want to crimp, you will need to redo the waves afterwards.
I hope that helps! good luck :]
OH MY GOD TYSMMMM <3333
