You’ve Heard Of A Dew Drop?

Lloyd likes taking pictures of almost anything he finds fascinating. Today, he caught himself in the beach. He didn’t fancy a swim, but he had his camera with him to see the rise of tides and movement of the waves. He sat in the sand, trying to inhale the smell of a seashore breeze when a hand blocked his view followed by a familiar voice. Lloyd released a sigh, “What are you doing here, Misty?” He shrugged, knowing the voice all too familiar. He was surprised to see her in a swimsuit as it was relatively cold that time. Lloyd wasn’t gonna lie, she looked cute. But he wasn’t gonna say that, so he averted his gaze and looked straight ahead. “Yeah. You’re kinda distracting me.” He replied, fixing the lens of his camera.

Misty rolled her eyes as Lloyd immediately acted annoyed, already knowing how both their personalities seemed to clash some. Clearly, though, it only made Misty want to brighten him up more. “Enjoying the view, of course,” she replied as if it were obvious, crossing one leg over the other as she got comfortable beside him. She playfully scoffed and nudged him on the arm, “Oh, cheer up, grump. The ocean isn’t going anywhere. A little company never hurt anybody.” She let out a small sigh, looking at him with a pout, “But if you reallyyy want me to leave, I guess I can leave you alone.”

“And cute,” Rosetta sighed dreamily. She couldn’t help it. She swore the longer she went without a date, the more appealing boys started to look to her. Not that she’d just settle for any of them, she’d have to get to know someone first. And she wasn’t sure dating was a good idea anyway, she had school to focus on, and the garden, and her social life… but maybe that was just what she told herself to feel better about not having a boyfriend to spoil her. “Yes ma’am, it is!” With a clink, she offered her friend a wide grin. “I definitely needed this. I’ve been so stressed lately, I think I’m getting gray hairs already.”

“Very cute,” Misty corrected Rosetta with a smile, noticing the dreamy look in her friend’s eyes. “Maybe next round you should go talk to him,” she suggested playfully, giving the brunette that knowing look. She knew Rosetta loved the idea of dating, but always put too much focus on school and her hobbies, so Misty was always there to give her that little nudge she needed to branch out. “That’s why I brought you here! You gotta lighten up some!” Misty admitted, taking a sip of her drink. “But seriously, as soon as you do start seeing grey hairs, you’ll probably need a salon and spa day.”

The topic of magic was always one that fascinated Bobble. Ever since he was a young child already aware of his own magical abilities and growing up with parents who were magical themselves, he’s always wondered how it came to be. What made the enchanted rose so powerful to grant people the magic they hold? How is it able to be hereditary? And even who else within the town was magical. And the fact that his own group of friends were all magical was thrilling but also rather comforting.·

“How about we head to Beuno Nacho? I’m feeling up for a taco or some sorts unless you have somewhere else in mind?” Bobble replied after taking a couple of seconds to think. “I believe Clanky would built some kind of protective gear himself just to make certain that I don’t get injured.” He laughed while following her. “I don’t know? It’s not like I intend to fall into accidents on purpose, so if I could prevent such a thing from happening, I would. However, if everyone decides to partake in it than I don’t see why I wouldn’t as well? It’ll be boring if I don’t.” The blonde admitted, only to raise a brow at Misty’s following idea. He was, however, also smiling at her words. “No, no, continue on with this idea. We’ll need to come up with how the sport works, though, or some kind of a game plan at least.”·

“I’ll never say no to tacos,” Misty replied with a smile and a shake of her head. “Plus, it’s not even far from here, so perfect choice!” She was already leading the way, practically letting her stomach take over the journey as she grew hungry at the thought of Bueno Nacho. “And he would do a great job at it! The more protection, the better,” she replied. The two boys’ relationship was so cute in Misty’s eyes, always appreciating how much they cared for each other, but also somehow acted like an old couple.

She nodded her head as he considered her suggestion. “I feel like Tink would be all over this. Next time I see her, I’m gonna tell her,” she continued. “It doesn’t have to be that complicated. We could just involve things that clumsy people may struggle with. Going up stairs? Walking in a perfectly straight line without tripping over yourself? Just silly, dumb things like that! We could even split people up into teams if we wanted to make it a little more competitive.”

     Tink smiled as Misty pushed her to discuss both her boyfriend and her sibling, two of the most important people to have entered her life recently. Of course, Tootles hadn’t just come along recently, but her blossoming relationship with him was much newer than their friendship; it had only taken her a few years to look at him in a different light. She couldn’t be happier now that she had. And Peri—Peri was just the most amazing person she never knew she was always missing…Tessa couldn’t resist spilling when Misty was asking about topics that filled her with such excitement. “Okay, fine! Twist my arm…Things are great with Tootles. He’s adopting a kitty and he let me name it…Smokey!”

“You know I will!” Misty giggled as soon as Tink said to twist her arm. She loved to see Tink so excited about these special people in her life. It reminded her of when Simon first came back into her life, like the missing puzzle piece in her life had finally fallen into place. “Awww, stop that’s so cute!” Misty answered excitedly. “You can tell him I’m coming over to meet his new kitty, and he can’t say no.” She didn’t care if she ended up being a third wheel to them at some point or not. After all, if Tootles’ new cat was there too, then she really wasn’t technically third wheeling! “What about your twin? Seriously, tell me everything.”

Fawn made a small face looking at her, a big grin shining it’s way. “Eh, you’re pretty easy sometimes. That and I just know all the right cards to pull to ensure you just go along with my plans.” Walking along she laughed softly, shaking her head just a it. “Cashew has to be the cutest turtle name I have ever come across. I’m saying that now, but fine fine. I’m sure we can give love to the both of them. Equally, and sharing!”

“That’s true. You probably know me better than anyone else,” Misty admitted with another giggle. Though they had a giant group of friends, whom she loved every single one of, Fawn was always the one she was closest to from day one. “Of course! We both have lots of love to give to both of them!” She said excitedly, practically jumping up and down in anticipation. “You know, maybe I should get a pet turtle someday. I have all my fishies, but,” she shrugged, “I don’t know, it wouldn’t hurt to have more animal friends for me and Simon. What do you think?”

     It had been too long since Tink had had a pure girl’s night—she knew that she had spending a lot of her free time with Tootles lately, but she supposed that was just the way it went when someone got into a relationship for the first time. It was like they had to make up for lost time, all the years they could have been together if they had gotten to each other sooner. There was an inevitable honeymoon phase before they would settle in and adjust to life as part of a couple. But Tessa never wanted to neglect her friendships either; they were more important to her than anything. She smiled at Misty as she grabbed her own slice of pizza, making sure none of the veggies fell off as she transferred it to her plate. “Mm, no gossip,” she answered, muffled through a big bite. “Okay, I know that face. What’s up?”

Misty rolled her eyes, playfully nudging her shoulder to Tink’s. “Not what’s up with me,” she corrected her friend, “What’s up with you?” She was curious to hear how Tink and Tootles had been doing — they’d been official for a little while now, and it seemed that everyone in their friend group was curious to watch their relationship unfold. Misty thought that they were a unique pair, but not in a bad way! She was mostly just nosy and wanting to hear how her friend was doing. Taking a bite of the slice of pizza on her plate, she elaborated once her mouth wasn’t full of food. “I don’t know, how is everything? You have a new boyfriend, a new sibling, like maybe I just wanna hear more!”

“Figured I would. You’re pretty easy to kidnap for a day. Just please never follow just anyone that starts going off about turtles alright?” She asked teasing, but also a bit serious. The grin on her face only grew hearing her. “I may have already known that fact as well, but only as long as you know I’d drop anything for you too.. I mean unless the animals really need me, or whatever.” Shrugging her shoulders she just laughed at the teasing they were sharing. “Yes! The two we get to meet are Cashew and Wilbur. I already love them cause with name like that, how can you not right?”

Though Fawn and Cubby were more of the animal lovers in their friend group, Misty was a sucker for all things sea creatures. Aquariums always fascinated her ( even though she sorta felt bad for all the fishies behind glass ), and turtles were no exception to that. She laughed at Fawn’s comment. “Oh, come on, I’m not that easy to convince.” She paused. “Well, maybe I kind of am, but what if the turtles needed help or something?” She smiled again. “Ooh, dibs on Cashew!”

It was considered as taboo to speak about magic so openly as he and Misty were despite Bobble making it all sound playful while doing so. But seeing how the pair were magical themselves and it was just the two of them, it was safe to say they could talk about magic as freely as they possibly could. Besides, neither of them brought up their own magical abilities respectively— simply implied to it. “Seeing how it might be wise for us not to jinx it, I’m going to stay quiet on answering that latter part and just say yes, getting some lunch would be fantastic.” He joked, somewhat, not wanting another mishap to occur again even if doing a general task such as getting some lunch. “That would be exciting to see but also terrifying. Imagine how padded and secured with safety gear one will have to be when participating in the sport?”

The magic that most of her friends had similar to herself, was truly what made Misty feel so connected to all of them. She did have non magical friends, of course, or maybe they were magical but were hiding it, but it was always a different connection than those who did have magic. Growing up, Misty was always told by her parents and brother to be careful with her abilities and to keep it to herself. Around her friends, though, she was able to be who she was meant to be without fear of judgment.

Misty giggled again, smile still present. “Good call. What are you in the mood for?” She asked, motioning for him to follow her. “Oh, for sure. I’d probably wrap myself in bubble wrap in that case,” she joked. “Would you do it if it were a real thing? I could definitely see all of our friends trying it out with us.” She paused, looking at Bobble as if she had an idea. “What if we like, actually made this a thing? I know it sounds crazy, but also stupidly fun and entertaining? Honestly, feel free to stop me if I’m already taking it too far.”

“Oh misty!” She sang out as she poked around the corner with a large smile on her face. “I know you love the ocean, and it’s fucking freezing outside. But that doesn’t mean you can’t love on the babies. I found this really cute turtle rescue not to far from here, and they have some non releasable beans. and there is apparently a really amazing acia bowl place next to it and I just need a friend to share it all with. So you busy? Or do I need to call whoever to cancel those plans?” || @silbermisty​

Misty’s eyes lit up excitedly at the sound of her best friend’s voice. “Oh Fawn!” She repeated in a similar, sing-songy tone, sticking her tongue out playfully at her friend. “You had me at turtle rescue. I’m in,” she replied, smile growing even bigger. “Even if I was busy, I’d drop all plans for you, girl. Anytime, any day,” she giggled, giving Fawn a little hip bump. “So, do these turtles have names?”

ᴏᴘᴇɴ ꜱᴛᴀʀᴛᴇʀ

The day had been long. One of those where the clock barely moves but there’s somehow still not enough time during the day. She was finally down to the end of her shift at Manticore’s when one more customer walked in. They had almost seen the end until that person took their seat. With an internal groan and intrusive thoughts to just clock out anyway she walked over. “Hi, welcome in.” The usual spiel came out in autopilot as she walked to tables anymore. “What can I get you today? Or do you need another minute to look over the menu? We have some rad chicken tenders, if I do say so myself.”

Misty hadn’t meant to visit her friend right before closing, but maybe she wanted to check in to see what she was doing after work! Simon was going to be working late that night, so she was probably going to get bored while home alone for the evening, anyway. Obviously, Angel hadn’t noticed it was her who had walked in, so as they said their usual greeting like they would any other customer, Misty waited to pull the menu down from her face until they finished. “Rad chicken tenders? I’m sold,” she replied with a smile, bringing the menu down to reveal her face to her friend. “Surprise! Sorry if I killed your vibe right before your shift ended, I just really wanted to say hi,” she admitted with a sheepish shrug. “I can share my tenders with you to make up for it?”

“ok! so, i was thinking, what if we put together a whole thing for all of us? like a movie night or game night sort of thing with all of us and then your brother and the guys? i feel like its been too long since we’ve gotten to all just be together and have fun, with like, town events aside, of course. i think it could be really nice if we planned something like this like once a month, ya know? especially right now, i think it could be a nice way to remind nibs that he’s got all this support and so much love surrounding him. it could be a nice stress reliever for everyone, even.” she babbles, gesturing with her hands as she explains all of this to her friends. the idea had originally come to her as a way to help nibs out with his current situation, just a nice hang out with everyone for a night, but the more she thought about it, the more she realized there was no reason they couldn’t make it a monthly thing if they really wanted to! she had really missed getting to spend time with everyone as a group, seeing these friends she had cultivated throughout the years as a second family. “anyway, i thought i’d come to you because i mean, you did so good with that beach rave and i think you’d really help bring the heart into it. we can have everyone bring their own snacks and drinks, set up carpools, maybe even put together themed nights! not even just for holiday’s but like 80s night where we go roller skating or something, i feel like that could be awesome!”

As soon as Iridessa started talking, Misty’s eyes lit up with excitement. “You’re absolutely right. That would be so fun! Nibs and I had actually talked about this awhile ago, but I think after everything that’s happened with him, it just got put on the back burner,” she admitted with a shrug, still feeling bad for their heartbroken friend. “But seriously, that would be awesome. We could even change it up for whose place it’s at each time,” she replied, already building off of her friend’s idea excitedly. She couldn’t help but pout at Dessa’s compliment in regards to the rave, appreciating the praise for the hard work she put into that event. “Awww, stop,” Misty smiled, giving her friend a little friendly nudge. “You’re amazing, and I’m glad you came to me! Now it has to happen,” she giggled. “I’m all for themed nights. Maybeee we could start by doing something cute for Valentine’s Day coming up? Nothing too sappy, but we could make cute cookies and watch rom coms! What do you think?”

“Incredibly magical. Might even be one of the best magical abilities one could even have.” Bobble additionally empathized, with a grin on his face. He kept still as she cleaned his wound, an appreciative smile than appearing on his face after it was patched up with a bandaid. “Thank you.” The blonde thanked, only to playfully roll his eyes at Misty. “—For today at least. Let’s hope.” Bobble chuckled. He then laughed a little bit more, finding himself shrugging at her words as he could not understand how he was so clumsy, yet knew he just was. “I should probably be insulted, yet I can’t because it’s true— I supposed you can say it’s a natural talent of mines. One I may never break, not as long as I still have working limbs.”·

Misty giggled in return, always struggling to take any conversation related to magic seriously. Considering it was a huge taboo in Walt Grove and many people didn’t know about her own magic, it was always a topic she found to be amusing. Really, she wished people talked about it more! She shrugged her shoulders. “Well, why don’t we get some lunch or something? I doubt either of us can hurt ourselves doing that, right?” The answer should have been obvious, but not for this clumsy pair. “A talent! That’s a good way to look at it. Maybe they should make a new sport for just clumsy people.”
