A delightful dessert, Hot Fudge Cake magically produces its own hot fudge sauce while it bakes. It tastes best served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, making it the ideal treat for chocolate lovers.
Ingredients: 1 cup all-purpose flour. 3/4 cup granulated sugar. 2 tablespoons cocoa powder. 2 teaspoons baking powder. 1/4 teaspoon salt. 1/2 cup milk. 2 tablespoons vegetable oil. 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. 1/2 cup chopped nuts optional. 1 cup brown sugar. 1/4 cup cocoa powder. 1 3/4 cups hot water.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt. Stir in the milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract until the batter is smooth. If you'd like, fold in the chopped nuts. Spread the batter evenly into an ungreased 9-inch square baking dish. In a separate bowl, mix together the brown sugar and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the baking dish. Pour the hot water over the top of everything. Do not stir. Bake in the preheated oven for about 40-45 minutes or until the cake is set and the top appears slightly crispy. Serve the hot fudge cake warm, scooping out portions with a spoon. The cake will have a gooey, fudgy sauce underneath it.
