It was a bumpy ride so my writing and drawings weren’t the best but I do have photos to help visualize.

Rio grand rift study, did you know what one day the west is going to completely split from the us? It’s happening right now! Of course that’s probably going to happen way after our time on the earth.

Ahem plus a tiny doodle of Courier with coal I found

Some notes from observations I saw.

- why are there mountains pointing away from the rio grand rift? Because the earth is splitting the mountains slowly move away because of the movement happening in the rift. (Here there’s a small example of the rift’s inclination with a small volcano on top (right) and the mountains facing away from the rift (left))

-Volcanoes? A f* ton of them. They’re super active in this place but as I imagine them they’re like pimples on the rift. Because the rift is really thin, magma from the bottom seep up and make small volcanoes around the rift, sometimes they even flow in really long distances (as you can see in this air view on Maps) (yes that’s a lot of lava)

Couldn’t sleep that night and slept inside the van instead of the ground.
