Tearing a rift in reality last week at the Josephine
Clearinghouse is playing a rad show Friday at the Josephine, and we've got a new modded standing kit that is basically all kettle drum! We're playing with Signor Benedick the Moor - this radical experimental hip hop artist from LA who's been doing stuff with Clipping. - plus the spooky jazz styles of Bad Luck and the spooky godknowswhat of ShitLips.
https://www.facebook.com/events/485611138248233/
Here's more about Signor Benedick The Moor, from The Wire:
"Independent hiphop turned inward over the past decade, taking a lyrical lead from Lil Bâs messiah complex, Death Gripsâ psychotic anomie and Odd Futureâs adolescent wank fantasies, all aided and abetted by bedroom production chops from the likes of Clams Casino and many others. Signor Benedick The Moor, the Los Angeles rapper whoâs âtalking to mice in my spare timeâ, is the logical conclusion, or more accurately, the reductio ad absurdum of this trend."

MINIMAL "INDIE ROCK" VETERANS MECCA NORMAL
Formed in 1984, Vancouver, BC, rhythm-section-less two-piece Mecca Normal haveno shortage of weird left. Having been lumped into the "indie rock" non-genre over the years, the duo have previously released on cred-building labels such as K, Matador, and Kill Rock Stars. With the upcoming release of their 13th album,Empathy for the Evil (out on M'lady's Records September 16), it's clear that time hasn't dulled their ability to make infernally intimate oddball rock. The new album's guitar- and organ-driven single "Wasn't Said" offers an introspective introduction to their lyrically focused and poignant rock realism. Their set should be a charmingly unhinged, rare treat. With Clearinghouse, an abrasive noise-rock/no-wave quartet I know nothing about (waves conflict-of-interest flag till arm falls off), and #tits, a pummeling, lady-fueled noise duo featuring former members of Unfair Parents and WaMu. Hollow Earth Radio, 8 pm.Â
Now in their 30th year together, Vancouver, BC duo Mecca Normal are a minimal two-piece whose music is as much performance art as it is anything else. At this point, MN could perhaps be considered "classic" indie rock; is that a thing yet? Oh, they also have a new album,Empathy for the Evil, due in September. I'm excited for new-ish local group Clearinghouse, because of their tendency to make a fuck ton of NOISE. Like LOTS of noisy noise! They're confrontational, like, old-fashioned rock-and-roll-kinda confrontation, but what else would expect from a group that includes an ex-Mr. Epp? Also on the bill are #tits. I searched teh internet for sound clips and band info, but only found pictures of birds. MIKE NIPPER
Clearinghouse is a new Seattle noise rock band made up of the  remaining members of WAMU after the departure of singer/guitarist Rachel Leblanc.  In her place, they are joined by Smitty, from Mr. Epp and the Calculations, to form Clearinghouse..Â
This video of Clearinghouse at the Black Lodge is a must-see because it starts out with one of the most classic set intros of all time, by Smitty.  I wonât spoil the surprise here, just check it outâŚ.
"Clearinghouse is one of my favorite local bands, this their second show I think? I played their first one as Uneasy Chairs last month. The two guitars are brutal and trashy, reminding me of 70's no-wave. We were tripping on the sax player who was somehow producing all these low frequency bass sounds with pedals. I love Garrett's drumming, tonight I kept thinking of someone falling down stairs or something, so rad." - Patrick Neill Gundran, The Colour Out Of Space
Review of the entire show with videos and pictures from The Colour Out Of Space, Gang Wizard, Male/Female can be found, here:Â http://dorisdayordie.blogspot.com/2014/06/the-colour-out-of-space-at-black-lodge.html

Stranger Recommended.Â
Long Beach, Californiaâs Gang Wizard have been an ongoing, mutating concern since 1995. And one feels foolish for only now getting into them, because they sound like they took cues from Royal Truxâs Twin Infinitives and tried to make that crazy masterpiece rock harder. Gang Wizardâs clangorous jams amass a powerful centrifugal force and theyâve been known to gouge out a relentless riff until insanity ensues (but itâs the good kind of insanity). Their songs flirt with chaos but maintain an unruly order amid the frayed, metallic (but not metal) power moves. Score their recent album, Important Picnic (MIE Records), and try to get on Gang Wizardâs intensely manic level. Clearinghouseâfeaturing members of Mr. Epp & the Calculations and WaMĂź, and guitarist Eric Ostrowskiâgush out lo-fi, rumbling improv anarchy thatâs catharsis for catharsisâs sake. (Show me the human who doesnât need catharsis now and then.) The Colour out of Space use heavily FXâd trombone and guitar to create infernos of noise-jazz chaos. DAVE SEGAL

Unfortunately, this was the very last WaMu show - at the very spectacular VANFEST in beautiful Maple Valley, Wa. Recorded straight to iPhone. You can hear the sound man talking about how he's worried he's losing his hearing.Â
We know this might be sad news to some folks, but never fear, some rad things are happening. Rachel LeBlanc is active with two new groups: Baniszewski & Leblanc & #tits.Â
Eric, Brittnie, & Garrett are continuing to play music in a new group called Clearinghouse. This group also features Smitty from Mr. Epp & The Calculations. Here's their facebook too, or whatever:Â https://www.facebook.com/clearinghouse
