Even though I lived in one house my whole childhood, because my family was all over and we traveled a lot to see them, things felt pretty nomadic growing up. Then, since moving to the DMV for college, I’ve had a hard time feeling “at home”—my sister and I are the only ones who live up here. Didn’t think I’d be staying here post-college, to be honest, so I took a while to settle in. But shoutout to local public radio. We forget about it sometimes, with how globalized social media feels. But there’s nothing like tuning into DC101 or WAMU, letting the music & news of the city sink into your rhythm, to make a person feel at home :))
