A big shout out to our friends over at Killington for keeping things green. Climate change is no joke especially to those of us who love pow. Killington is working hard to protect our winters and reduce their carbon footprint. 

This week the EPA stopped by to recognize Killington’s effort which includes a gondola powered by electricity created from harnessing biogas, a refrigerator chilled by the Vermont winter, and an on-site toilet water recycling program. Killington also recently invested 2 million dollars to update an already state of the art snow making system. The recent upgrade has drastically reduced the resorts overall diesel consumption. 

The efforts of Killington to go green have helped more then just Mother Nature. While power consumption has been one of the resort top costs cutting consumption my nearly half in recent years should help the bottom line. 

Maybe with the reduction in energy costs lift tickets prices will drop. We won’t hold our breath, but at least we will have a winter to ride in.
