i find it really weird how salem treats femme dressing characters and trans men in general.
now first, salem has some sort of favoritism towards hitomi. she is the one of the only femme (kinda, shes ‘masc’ in salem terms) characters salem does not put revealing clothes on. hitomi is still sexualized as salem is a nsfw artist, but her sexualization is very different from salem (fursona) and hitch.
i don’t mind artistic nudity nor revealing clothes, but it’s a bit weird when trans men in salem’s art are always portrayed so oddly despite salem claiming hes the trans mickey mouse
to show how different he treats two sides of the same coin, the paws crossed cover is a rlly good example. hitomi is wearing a well covered up outfit, w/ little to no skin showing. this is obviously fine. the background looks cold, so hitomi is dressing 4 the weather.
i cannot say the same for hitch. his belly, thighs, shoulders, and cleavage are out in the open. this would b fine on its own, but he looks completely out of place in a cold environment.
the pajamas drawing also has the same problems, with hitomi being much more covered than hitch. hitch also has his cleavage out, which is a trope for salem’s drawings of trans men characters. hitomi does not.
this drawing of shiloh not intended to be sexual still makes his outfit really revealing for the environment that he’s in. his cleavage, belly, and thighs are uncovered.
jaye, one of the more masc trans men characters, still has his belly out. the sagging is covered tho, so i respect that. i sag too, if u do it right it makes your clothes look cartoony!
clothing wise, this is def one of the better drawings as both hitch and hitomi are shown wearing clothes that reveal more skin. the sexualization of gnc trans men is still obvious though, as hitch’s boob detail is very paid attention to.
i did show mainly hitch and hitomi art but i do hope this shows salem’s treatment of gnc trans men characters. feel free to add on! i did cherrypick 4 arts w/ both hitch and hitomi specifically
