TO BORE A HOLE IN THE CENTER OF THE FOREHEAD

ive become disconnected from the label 'therian' because its grown to mean something somewhat different in my time of dog-ness. that isnt a bad thing! no, i delight in seeing teens explore options outside humanity and anthropocentrism, plus that quadrobic stuff a lot of them do is damn impressive and has *got* to be great excercise. it's just that therian has started to have a lot more specificity in behaviors and hobbies. and i'm not any of that stuff, i'm just a guy whos a dog. and in a way that i feel is less literal than a lot of other therians. hell, im far more of a cartoon dog than a flesh and blood dog.

ive seen some people saying lately that "suicide isn't a selfish act, it's selfish of others to force a person who's suffering so immensely to keep going". and while i know its coming from a place of defending people who have historically been treated awfully for being suicidal, to say that suicide isn't selfish is a very self-centered way of thinking about it. someone commiting suicide will always bring suffering, often an immense suffering, to someone else. sure you can come up with a bunch of situations where that isn't the case, but that also isn't the norm. and I'm coming at this as someone who supports people having the right to kill themselves. i think people should be able to make that choice, but it needs to be a choice made with the knowledge that it's a selfish choice. people can do selfish things for themselves. but if you're going to kill yourself you need to be aware of that selfishness, because if you are, you can make actions before your death to try and make it slightly easier on those who will be affected by it. stuff like not killing yourself somewhere loved ones will find your body, making it so that cleanup won't take long, leaving a well-thought-out note. to be suicidal and not think of suicide as a selfish act shows an underlying lack of awareness of how your actions affect others. and that's a type of awareness that can be very helpful in terms of finding ways to motivate yourself to recover. so have a long, long think of the world around you and how you affect it. maybe you'll come out less suicidal afterward, and if you dont, then you'll probably be coming out of it with a suicide plan that makes things less difficult for those who have to put the pieces back together afterward.
